Your Physics SAT II score is going to hurt you as an Engineering applicant.

I don’t know about the others but I can help you out with University of Michigan, Columbia, Cornell, Stanford and Johns Hopkins. Quite simply, your GPA and rank automatically give you a very very low chance of acceptance. That coupled with a very low Physics score and a low Reading score mean that nothing short of a miracle can help you in. Sorry for being honest, but you would regret if I was insincere and gave you false hope.

Chance me back:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1094423-princeton-stanford-columbia-cornell.html</a></p>

Here is the problem. Your GPA is low. Your physics score is low. You don’t have great extracurriculars. However, you should still apply. You might get into one of them.

U Mich, Columbia, Cornell, Stanford, John Hopkins are definitely really impossible. I kind of knew but why should I apply to a school with a low chance?

Anyways. What about Drexel, Villanova, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Rensselaer? I’m kind of worried I might not get into a college because of my such narrow options.

I think you’ll get in to Drexel, Penn State, and Nova. Drexel for sure, so don’t worry.

“I kind of knew but why should I apply to a school with a low chance?”
Huh? what does that mean?

First of all those are relatively low SATS for those schools. Yeah your below average in math and science will not help so id say you get into drexel, nova, ga tech and penn state Maybe

Is my GPA really that bad? Most of my Cs and Bs were in English, Social Studies, and Science [Non Physics] classes. And the trend is going upwards as well.

I don’t doubt that you’ll get in to SOME school on your list, but I question if engineering is really the field for you or if you just feel pressured into it. Bs in biology, chemistry and calculus? The high school stuff is EASY (for math and science nerds) compared to the college engineering classes – do you really want to struggle day and night to maybe earn Cs in engineering school? An awful lot of students start in engineering or pre-med and end up switching majors because they just can’t handle the coursework.

Drexel and Penn state are very possible, however, ivies are reaches.
Your gpa is not the best, pulling your application down, as well as an ok pshyics sat .

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1099964-please-chance-me-i-will-do-same-thanks.html</a></p>

all the ivys are out

Penn State your in if you live in state, any OOS is a toss up
Drexel in
Villanova in
Georgia Institute of Technology High Match/Low Reach, they just hate ****ty GPA’s i got rejected this year with the same as you and i come from a really competitive high school and they know that, besides that i had 800 on math II and 650 on physics with a lot of extra C’s and letters etc. my friend has a 4.2 GPA and got deferred from Gtech even so, again OOS is a toss up
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute High Match, i also hear back from them tomorrow night…
University of Michigan-Low Reach, i got deferred but everyone supposedly does, they just have way too many applicants, i heard 10k EA this year alone so yeah

good luck

Penn State- high match
Drexel- match
Villanova- high match
Georgia Institute of Technology- reach
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute- Low Reach
Carnegie Mellon - Early Decision II -REJECTED.
University of Michigan- Low reach

[NOT looking too good with these colleges]
Stanford
Columbia
Cornell
John Hopkins
All of them: no chance

Your gpa looks the same as mine, and I’m applying to the same schools as well…well the non ivys anyway. But I still want to apply to Upenn as well. However, drexel is my number one. Please let me know if you get accepted into any of these schools. I’m a junior so I was wondering…did you send in your resume before or after the first semester? (which would include your gpa up to that point)?

Haven’t applied yet?

Well, how convenient. I just got my letter of acceptance from Drexel! and Renssalaer? Yay. I’m at ease now.

I was really late with all the schools to which I applied. Honestly, I applied to Drexel & Penn State like one-two weeks before the deadline [March 1st]. But for every other college, I applied like 2-3 days before their respective deadlines. For Drexel, I think I sent it sometime in February 25? Sometime after my second semester. Strange that I would get a letter of admittance so early though. I mean its like 11 days after the deadline.

UPenn is a REALLY tough school to get accepted. My dad placed on the list along with all the other ivys. I said ESPECIALLY no. Apparently, the “assumed number 1” in our school got rejected from UPenn. Pretty sure. He took all of the Science Courses [Bio Hon. Bio II. Chem Hon. Chem II. ETC] and all the AP classes available. He probably got straight As. He is also in band. He didn’t do as well as I did on the SATs. But he has two of the three things that I’m missing and he was rejected. GPA is incredibly important. I need to beat that idea into my little bro.

Don’t worry bout Drexel. A lot of people are accepted there from my school even this one guy I know. 1800 SAT. Decent Grades [Lower than mine]. More Sports/Extracurriculars. ETC.

Happy for you. Congratulations.

Yay congrats! And thanks for the advice(:

Not looking good with the GPA, Stanford not a chance, MIT you never know, IDK about cornell and the others.

mines please

schmohawk & sabeeyotchxx

Thanks. :]

glad you got in… got a kid w similar stats. you can emphasize need for good gpa but… sigh
