That being said, you seem to have a similar profile to many MIT applicants. You have a shot, but MIT is so selective that all you can do now is apply and hope for the best. Good luck!

peab2011 beat me to posting my own link. that’s CLASSIC PEAB2011.

Oh boy! Chancing for class of 2016 already! That’s exciting. I feel old.

Anyway, like peab2011 and MITChris said, no one can really “chance” you, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

First off, you are awesome enough to be competitive; like peab2011 said, you have a profile that is similar to that of many MIT applicants, and a profile of someone I can see at MIT. I’m particularly excited about you giving back to the community by coaching mathcounts and raising funds for human rights in southeast Asia, and about you taking your interest in business to a new level not only through FBLA but especially through your internship. I recommend using your senior year to take your interests even farther; unfortunately I, being not you, can’t tell you how to do that.

I think that you have a good chance if your personality and goals match MIT’s personality and mission (“to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century” by “generating, disseminating, and preserving knowledge, [and] working with others to bring this knowledge to bear on the world’s great challenges”) and your recommendations, interview, and essays reflect that. I recommend reading some of the MIT Admissions blogs ([Best of the Blogs Archives | MIT Admissions](Best of the Blogs | MIT Admissions)) to get an idea of MIT’s personality and how you might fit in before you write your essays.

I don’t actually know much about Harvard, but given your interests I would recommend applying there as well–my interviewer for Harvard kept digging for my interest in business, which was confusing because I didn’t have much interest or experience in business beyond reselling textbooks on half.com.
