Chance Me: MIT / UC Berkeley Computer Science Undergrad

I am new here so please excuse any informalities :stuck_out_tongue:

I am very passionate about computer science, and after much research, I believe UC Berk and MIT are the place for me. All I have to do now is apply and get accepted!

Chance Me:

  • Demographically unfavorable male
  • 1550 SAT
  • 750 SATII : Bio M and Math II
  • 3.93 GPA
  • 4.40 wGPA
  • Go to an IB School, but will not receive IB Diploma (I am taking 5HLs, diploma only allows 4 max)
  • Created and published Android phone application
  • Created internal scheduling program for museum
  • Work at local children's science center (<3)
  • Conducted research at an NSBRI lab (Mainly chem invovled, but there was MATLAB based coding too)
  • Worked with library and local university to teach librarians and families how to use arduinos
  • Founded technology club (TSA) at school
  • Long standing officer in 3 science related clubs
  • Taught computer science at elementary schools for 5 years
  • Worked with Dubai company to write some database algorithms and create graphical elements

  • Other minor techy things

I love everything I do. Else I wouldn’t do it.

I recommend that you read these:

You have the credentials, but so does everyone else who applies. The real meat of the application comes from your essays and interview!

Thank you very much

To be frank, a average profile of someone applying to MIT…
I did hear that US universities do care about actual high school completion certs, so make sure you have one of these  Other than that I think it’s a solid chance, maybe. I have pretty much the same profile as you, just swap out biker with rower and library with writing the entire school library management system. Best of luck to you, tell me if you get in, if you do i might have a chance as well :stuck_out_tongue: Btw, MIT only gives you enough space to write 5 ECs, so pick the 5 that are most important to you

Someone correct me if it’s changed, but I believe you need either a physics or chemistry SAT2.

EDIT: btw, Looks good. (y)

@AthenasMight Bio is also accepted.

OP you are ok, just apply and see what happens.
