i honestly don't see anything OUTSTANDING in terms of ECs.

don't get me wrong, academically you cannot be beat (i bow to your prowess), but your ECs leave much to be desired. However, if you present them in the right way, then I think that you have an excellent shot at your dream school!

Great Job!!!!

ps. is your last name white or is it asian?

yeah, sorry, half asian is still asian.
i'm also gonna agree with "eating food" that if your last name (or even first) is asian, it may hurt ever so slightly. but i doubt it'll make a BIG difference.
otherwise, good luck!

I advise you to post this on the MIT board (which, as an alum, I frequent), where people are way better informed about MIT than they are here.

Your stats are easily good enough. Your activities and honors are very good. Get excellent recommendations and do a good job with your essays, and you have about as much of a chance as can be reasonably expected (in other words, you are in good shape, but admissions rates are still low).

Being half-Asian is not going to hurt you, contrary to popular belief. Also contrary to popular belief, being female is not some kind of golden ticket (45% of MIT undergrads are female). But your application is very competitive.

thanks to everyone who replied!
@eating food, my last name is russian but it's kind of unidentifiable :P
i think i've been marking decline to say for ethnicity on everything, because i can never decide which bubble (asian or caucasian) to fill!!

D=
I got 105 on the AMC and 5 on the AIME as well this year. what a coincidence lol. I also got remarkably similar SAT results O__o but I'm "international" so bleh >.<

anyways, I think you're looking good. your ECs are good, not everyone who gets into MIT is going to have amazingly unique ECs. also think about Stanford, which would be great for you, and Berkeley (just cuz you're in state :p)

You are definitely very competitive. Your EC's are very good and above average for MIT, but they're not amazing either. However, if you can get good recs, essays, that can show more passion, show yourself, and show these things: MIT Admissions: The Match Between You And MIT you'll have decent chances.

Very slim chances. The most intelligent person that I have ever met was rejected from MIT this year, and as a result, I'm convinced that there is not a person on the planet that has "good" chances at getting into MIT. The person that said 80 percent is an idiot.
