We have the money for these schools but would love some aid or merit money...

UF: Low match (the high end is somewhat unpredictable)
GA Tech: Match
UMI: High match
Duke: Reach (both Trinity, for math and Pratt, for computer science)
UVA: Match
Purdue: Safety
UCLA: Match (poor financial aid)
Stanford: Reach

Prediction:
Georgia Tech: Accept
Michigan: Accept
UNC Chapel Hill: reject (OOS)
Duke: Reject (weakish ecs)
Virginia: Accept
Purdue: Accept
UCLA: accept (above person, you cray? UCLA take 70% of those with an unweighted 4.0 AND 33 ACT is well above average…)
Stanford: reject
Florida (In state): accept

Assuming you are applying to engineering (from your school list), UMich would be high match. GA Tech, Purdue and UCLA would be match. Stanford would be a reach. Florida is safety.

@demorrin
Sorry, I must have overlooked it. However, it is still not clear if you are applying to engineering or not. For UMich, you probably should try LSA instead of CoE as both have computer Science programs and LSA would be a bit easier to get into. Math is in LSA anyway. Then, UMich would be a match for you as your ACT is right at their 75%.

Think about UIUC too. They have a program in Statistics and Computer Science as well as Mathematics and Computer Science. Both are not in the engineering but LAS. You should be a match to high match for them.

@sd9754 I’ve heard that EC’s are semi overrated, and it isn’t nearly as important as test scores or gpa. @princessperfekt 1990 but that isn’t important as I will not be submitting it.

None of these offer much in merit scholarships, unless you can get your ACT higher (including UF). You may want to add a financial safety. In state you may want to apply to UCF or USF. You would get an early acceptance and scholarship info by November, which is nice having as you spend the next several months waiting on the other schools.

@gator88NE If I get into UF and it is a lot cheaper than other out of state schools, I will definitely go there. I may apply to UCF just in case, but I want Florida to be my last resort instead. We don’t really need financial aid that much as we have money so we can afford uf

Schools: Georgia Tech
Michigan - apply early and yes you’ll get in
UNC Chapel Hill - if in state, shoe in. If not I have no idea. Same deal as Virginia!
Duke - very good chance
Virginia - if you are in state : shoe in. If not I have no idea. They are weird about out of state
Purdue - I would also say shoe in
UCLA - I would say shoe in
Stanford - good chance
Florida (In state) - shoe in

Obviously test scores and gpa are very important. However, if you want to go to Duke or Stanford your going to need lots of EC. Your going to look terrible applying to these school with mediocre EC’s. Its really stupid to say you want to go to these elites school but then think EC’s are overrated and that your " test scores and gpa will save you. There not going to.
