Chance me NC State, Virginia Tech, and Clemson Engineering (I'll chance back)?

Female

I live in NC

4.625 W GPA 3.8 UW

Class Rank: 8/232 (top 3%)

SAT: 1430/1600 2050/2400 (630 CR, 800 M, 620 W 9 E)

Courseload: I will graduate with 5 AP classes, 21 Honors classes, only 5 standard (3 of them being required standard courses)

ECs: Chorus (section leader), Handbells, Science Club, Science Olympiad (Regional winner), Key Club, NC State Mathematics Competition (Regional honorable mention), tutor, Praise Band (harmony composer), Cross Country, Track and Field, Junior Marshal, NHS, Youth Group, Governors school nominee

Essays: I talked about how I grew up with a mom who was a drug addict and how I have to take care of my little 3 sisters, and how I've had to overcome these obstacles in order to perform decent in school.

What are my chances at these 3 schools (in the title?) Thanks!

I think you have a good shot at all of these, especially in light of your circumstances growing up. You have a nice variety of interests and school studies and you preformed very well both with your GPA and on your SAT’s. Although, SAT II’s might have been a good thing to do. Most schools ask for at least two tests preferably related to your major. But I think you credentials are awesome! But the lack of Subject tests worry me slightly.

I feel like VTech won’t hurt you because of a lack of SAT IIs.

I don’t know much of any of the others, but I would definitely say you have a good shot at VTech. If you lived IS, I’d say you were a shoo-in, but I still think you’ve got a nice chance there.
