Dartmouth
Boston College

Thank you for your help, and I will chance you back :0

anyone 10char

You have no leadership in your extracurriculars, whatsoever.
Why did you want to apply to Huntsman? (Lack of language too)

I can speak spanish, and I have plenty of leadership at my job (business experience? what wharton is all about?) People on this site view leadership as “president of” or “leader of”. I probably have more responsibility at my job than any kid in his school club that he does 2 hours a week.

I have plenty of leadership at my job (business experience? what wharton is all about?)
^Where do I see that?

local hardware store?
That seems more like a job rather than a “business” to me.
Some people on this site have much unique experiences where they were actually CEOs/ nonprofits.

I’m sure some people do. Some people also have written books, made 1mil, or even cured people. Apart from leadership, colleges like to see dedication. By the time I apply to a school I’ll have 2500 hours worth of working… That is commitment.

Alright, I deliver grills by myself to customers, I mix paint, I help plan events to promote the store, I help the store form its own union sort thing, I help people pick colors.
I know your not trying to castigate me, it’s just that many people here don’t see how valuable work experience is.

Edit: it’s not my business… It’s a business I’ve worked at the past 5 years.

Ah, that makes the difference.
Wow, are you going to include that in your essay?

It seems very interesting. Help people pick colors?

Facebook, dude, don’t be a d***.

UVAorBust, I think you have strong stats. While Huntsman is definitely a reach, I’d say you have a good shot at Georgetown, as well as BC, JHU, Notre Dame, Emory, Rice, Vandy, etc. The ivies, especially Princeton, are always tough to predict. They’re a reach for you, but they’re a reach for everyone. Berkeley’s probably a reach, only because you’re out of state, and I don’t know that much about UVa and UNC out of state admissions. Not sure how University of Florida is instate for you, but I’d say you’re in there and Florida State. Your list looks good, and while you probably won’t get in everywhere, you’ll most likely be accepted to a very good portion of the schools on your list.

dubious at best. almost everyone that has work experience outside of school also plays a varsity sport or is involved in at least one sport. your resume lacks depth. ill give you my honest opinion.

UVA (dream school since I was 5) - 50/50
UPenn ----> ED to Huntsman program/wharton - NO
Georgetown - depends on your major, but low chance
UNC - again, low chance
Dartmouth - no
Princeton - no
------------- that ends the list of schools I’d really like to attend but here are some others
JHU - low chance
UC Berkley - most likely not
University of Florida (instate) - 100%
Florida State - 100%
U Chicago - no
Emory - probably yes
Vandy - low chance
Notre Dame - reasonable chance
Rice - probably
Dartmouth - mentioned above but no, not likely
Boston College - 50/50

The most important thing in all of this is strength of schedule. How many ap’s does your school offer? If you didn’t take the most rigorous schedule, then i have to agree with poster above me on all of his predictions.

^I second (third?) albatross’s predictions. With the OP’s weak ECs and unimpressive GPA/test scores, all the Ivies are out of reach and UNC, UVA and Georgetown are reaches. I’d say his chances at UVA are definitely less than 50%.

Yes to everything except Berkely, JHU and BC
those are maybies .

Chance me please http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1005523-getting-into-college-basics-scores-getting-front-doors.html</a></p>

^I forgot that BC is more selective than Princeton and Penn.

UVA (dream school since I was 5) - Very good chance
UPenn ----> ED to Huntsman program/wharton - reach
Georgetown - lowish reach
UNC - good chance
Dartmouth - reach
Princeton - high reach
------------- that ends the list of schools I’d really like to attend but here are some others
JHU - reach
UC Berkley - high match/low reach
University of Florida (instate) - 100%
Florida State - 100%
U Chicago - fairly good chances
Emory - fairly good chances
Vandy - reach
Notre Dame - reasonable chance
Rice - good chances
Boston College - very good chance

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1005528-help-finalizing-college-list-pl0x.html</a></p>

wishful thinking at its finest. please be realistic. if you haven’t gone through the process of selection with any of these schools, you really can’t contribute much. i stand by what i said earlier. and btw, berkeley, virginia, and unc are all extremely difficult to get into oos

I’m a little confused on how I have low test scores? I have a 33. That is 99%, that is within the 50% at every single Ivy? And also, I cant hold leadership positions (mention this in my essay). I go to school an hour a way get home then work till closing. I commited to the job before I started highschool and I’ve got to keep working there…

Yes to everything except Berkely, JHU and BC???
So yes to Penn Huntsman???

And no, I was not being a total jerk.
The OP just did not clarify a lot of info.

Unimpressive in the sense that they’re AVERAGE at those schools. Sure, you have have scores in the 99th percentile but that’s for the whole nation, and the schools you’re applying to are the top 1% of colleges in the nation. Your application lacks depth. We’re not telling you to get leadership positions, we’re telling you to GET INVOLVED AT YOUR SCHOOL WITH CLUBS. It’s not hard AT ALL. So many clubs solely meet during school hours, at lunch or something like that. You don’t even have to be actively involved, really, just show up to the meetings every once in a while so that way you can pretend you were in the club. Otherwise, you don’t really have a good chance at most of the schools you listed.

Your scores/gpa are mediocre for most of the schools you listed. Sure, they’re great scores for most other schools, but because you’re applying to the top schools and you only have average test scores with nothing else that really stands out (and don’t try and tell me your hardware job is a hook/stands out because it doesn’t), I doubt you’ll get in. I’ll give you my first year’s salary out of college if you get into UPenn (first two years if you get into Huntsman).

(first two years if you get into Huntsman).
^My entire life savings if you get into Huntsman.

You see, the whole point of Huntsman is that they are looking for a diverse individual.
Your app is not diverse at all.
Yes, working at a local hardware store is impressive. But you are calling it a “business”. Sure, it is business, but I think it still conveys a message of just another job. (even if you have devoted 5+ years to it.)

that is within the 50% at every single Ivy?
^ -_-; Who told you this??

33 is impressive for mid-range schools.
See my emphasis on mid-range?
It converts to a 2190. You can’t even guarantee Cornell with a 2350+ nowadays.
