<p>(Low GPA with significant upward trend!)
I'm a current senior at public high school. I moved here from South Korea two years ago because I didn't work there and wanted to get a new opportunity for new life. The problem is that I brought my 9th grade's grades from the South Korea.</p>

<p>9th - 2.3 uw, 2.3 w (From South Korea)
10th - 4.0 uw, 4.25 w
11th - 3.75 uw, 4.375 w
12th - just started</p>

<p>OVER ALL - 3.27 uw, 3.54 w (9th + 10th + 11th), if the first semester of senior year will be counted as a gpa, I can bump it up to 3.33 uw, 3.73 w.</p>

<p>Reading -570, Writing - 620 Math - 740 (super score) 1930, 750 KOREAN SUBJECT TEST, 720 MATH1 TEST.</p>

National Honor Society (member) - 12th
Varsity Soccer Team (player) - 10th
FCCA Club Soccer (player) - 10th

<p>I'm really worrying about the college admission because of my freshman year gpa.</p>

<p>Can anybody tell me if I have chances for NCSU (regular decision)? And any advice about the low gpa with the upward trend?</p>

<p>I think you have a great chance, particularly as an in-state applicant. Your SAT is very good for NCSU, even if your GPA doesn’t stand out. All in all, I’ve seen kids with worse stats get in at my school, so I bet you’ll get in. Also, minority status and NHS will significantly help!</p>

<p>I think that you should get in with your SAT score. Your GPA is a little low but still is enough to get in. Good luck! Please get me back.</p>

<p>make sure to write one of your essays about how you came from south korea and how you overcame struggles once you moved here (or something along those lines). it’s a great essay topic and will explain the initially low gpa</p>

<p>Thank you very much! I was seriously worrying about getting into NCSU…you guys made my day! However, I have one more question if you guys can answer…do NCSU look at SAT writing section?</p>
