5.1 out of 6 brings the GPA to 3.4 on a traditional scale. Probably an automatic decline from Northwestern. If you’re going into computers, the school you attend won’t matter all that much. Technology is highly diverse and CS degrees are very employable. 95% of your education in computers will happen on the job. I would suggest an in-state school to keep the cost of loans down. You don’t want to start a career in a 55,000 a year job with 150,000 in student loan debt. It’ no value at all.
@highschooler17 Math is a little fuzzy, but I’ll go with it The average GPA for Northeastern(not Northwestern) is 4.0. Most schools go off of unweighted GPA, so it puts the GPA a couple tenths of a point below the average. The SAT is 1500 and the average SAT for Northeastern is 1470. With a 28% acceptance rate, I would say chances are very very slim.
Thank you, both for the feedback, @TomSrOfBoston, and @coolguy40. It really has been helpful. I marked that i was open to NU. in, will I most likely receive that rather than direct admission to NEU?
If you applied ea, then you already know if you got in etc. If not, you honestly have a really good shot. I got in with similar stats to yours with the deans scholarship
