Essays are average... recommendations... average...i guess...

The low GPA will be quite detrimental to your chances

Northwestern - high reach
Cornell - high reach
Rice - reach
UCB - reach
UCLA - reach
NYU - low reach
Georgia Tech - match
Umich - reach

You need to find a safety. Unfortunately, GPA is the single most important admissions factor at many of those schools.

On the other hand, don’t be too discouraged since I know someone who got into UCLA with a 3.0, but he had perfect SAT scores and wrote an extremely powerful essay.

I have the same ( a bit more on the EC’s and a 2180) stats as you!! :)

I’d say you should get in to all of your ‘lower list’ and would be a good match for Gtech, UMich and NYU (depends on the school)!!
Northwestern, Rice, UCLA would be high matches while UCB & Cornell would be reaches!!

That said… I myself am applying to higher ranked? universities (UPenn, etc.) but that’s because I’m an international applicant and my country & school system is renowned for stringent grading!!

Also… For the reaches…No one can ever be sure so… Unless you apply you’ll never know!!

I feel that no has mentioned your outstanding SAT II scores, which proves that you are very knowledgeable in those subjects. I am so jealous…
As others have said before, your GPA is lacking and your SAT I a bit. I would say you are a slight reach for UCB and UCLA, but they are worth applying to. Good luck!

Give me a little more information about your school. Do a lot of top schools come to your school? How many classes did the school offer? What is your rank within your peer group? What was the highest GPA in your school?

I see your GPA to be a bit of problem, but not major.

I was told my daughter did not have high GPA and was not the top student, nor did she have EC’s. She still got through Cornell and all the other early schools that she applied to with merit scholarships.

Like others have said, your GPA is low for those schools, though you have strong ACT and SAT scores (within the range of all those schools). Your extracurriculars look very nice… what were the two internships? And did you already submit your applications for all the schools? If not, I would highly suggest polishing your essays. Those are always important, especially if you want to cushion your low GPA.
