I know with my credentials, Northwestern and University of Chicago are absolute reaches but I think I bring something different to the table with my background. Please let me know what you guys think and be honest with me I can take it. Just need some opinions as the application deadline approaches and the waiting game begins.

I think you stand a very good chance at DePaul. U of I could go either way. I think your GPA is a bit low, but you have strong ECs. I’m thinking acceptance. Very sorry to be blunt, but there really isn’t much of a chance at all that you would be accepted at Northwestern or U of Chicago. Unless you have a strong desire to apply to either, I would focus more on schools like DePaul and U of I. Marquette University is a good school. Same with Loyola in Chicago. University of Wisconsin - Madison may also be a good fit. Good luck with wherever you apply!

I think you’ll definitely get into DePaul and probably UI. That being said, I’m sorry to say that I don’t think you have any shot at NU or UChicago. Your GPA is too low and your ACT is well below even the 25th percentile at both. Best of luck, however, and I’m sure you’ll be successful wherever you go.

@collegebound465 I have already been accepted to Loyola University Chicago in fact. and thank you for your input! You too smithg1227. I realize Northwestern and UChicago are shots in the dark but i figured i might as well. if i do get in, thats amazing. if i dont get in, that was expected. because I am pretty positive I will get into the remaining schools i mentioned so i just decided to throw two reaches in there.

Oh I also forgot to mention I intend to study physical therapy or pharmacy in college.

Congratulations on your acceptance to Loyola! As I’m sure you know, they have fantastic programs in both of those fields. And it never hurts to apply to schools like U of Chicago or Northwestern! You’re right; you really never know. Best of luck!

Yeah. It’s always good to apply to schools you think are way out of reach as well. I mean if you look at some of the ED/EA decision threads on the Ivy forums, you’ll see some people accepted that are way below the average stats, so in no way should you take my comment to mean you shouldn’t apply. I’m just some guy on a computer, so my input doesn’t really matter haha. Congrats on the acceptance, though!

Hey I’m with you guys haha my stats don’t prove much and there’s a very slight possibility I get in to those school but I think my progress thought my 3 1/2 years has improved greatly and my ECs I think show my versatility and the different things I bring to the table. So who knows? We’ll see I just have to write a killer essay. And thanks guys I’m sure Loyola has plenty it could offer me in terms of what I want to do in life. I appreciate the feedback!

Uchi and northwestern:high reach (you need to raise your stats…)

Depaul: match
UIUC: high match-low reach(what’s your major?)

Shine with your essays. Be yourself, and make your app distinct from other walking numbers.Good luck in the process.

Hopefully my GPA will go up after the first semester grades come in

does anyone know if the 250 indicated on the northwestern writing supplement is a limit or a target meaning i can exceed 250?

also should i apply to more schools? Im only applying to 6 (Northwestern, UChicago, UIC, U of I, Loyola, and DePaul)
