Chance me? Not exactly "stellar"

Hi all

I have been thinking about RPI and I was wondering what you would say about my stats and if I would be considered.

3.97 GPA unweighted, 4.1 weighted
Top 2% rank
30 ACT
Taking full time dual enrollment courses this year at another college

My activities are EXTREMELY weak. I have about 6 nonathletic clubs at my school, and I didn’t spend very much time in them. The student involvement is so weak at my school, the activity I was in 10th grade had to dissolve the next two years.This is my biggest concern. I have done volunteering in the community, but nothing with leadership or commitment because I have just been looking for “odd jobs” so to speak. I do have a paying job that I listed. My school lacks the opportunities and the community is hesitant to allow student volunteers because they know we are there to boost resumes/apps. I don’t know if this will be such a major hindrance that they won’t consider me.

Hey, you have pretty decent metrics. Be sure to write a good essay and try to stress what you did (even if it wasn’t much). Definitely apply though, I really think you have a shot at getting in. Your ACT score is average, your ranking is amazing, and your GPA is good. Visit campus and make your interest known and I think you should be good! Good luck!
