Can you translate your GPA to the 4.0 scale that many of us are used to (that would help)? NYU is a big reach based on SAT alone. If you can get your SAT CR+M well over 1300, that would give you a good chance at schools like BU and Pitt. You’re pretty close based on your solid math SAT score for engineering. Good luck!

I am taking the SAT one more time. my overall GPA on a 4.0 scale is 3.2 UW/3.4 W. My junior year is 3.5 UW/4.0 W my freshman and sophomore year are what is holding me down as far as cumulative GPA.

What about the ones above it, uconn, umass, rutgers.

Also, with how weak my freshman and sophomore year were, is that enough to keep me out of a college like Northeastern, BU, or NYU? I really nailed it junior year with a 3.9 weighted GPA, but my freshman weighted GPA was only like 3.2 and my sophomore weighted GPA was only 3.3. Can I still get into a top Uni?

That’s actually really good to have such a great upwards trend. Send your senior year grades so far if they are consistent, but you def. can because the colleges will recognize your transition into a great and focused student. Can you chance me for NEU? I’m the one right below you haha

I will most certainly chance you, you have been extremely helpful to me. Out of my reach schools and uconn, is it easier or harder to get into them as engineering majors? I take it most of them are art and science based. correct me if i’m wrong.

BU and NYU are more focused on arts and humanities, but with your clear distinction and aptitude for math/science and focus your supplements on that, but still branch out that should work. I’m not sure about the rankings of UConn, but for the others I would estimate its not more difficult. Have you visited the schools/talked with any admission reps?

I visited BU, UConn, UMass, NEU, Rutgers, Rowan, Drexel, Temple, UPitt, Penn State, U South Carolina. I did not get interviewed at any though, and I did not visit NYU. I was impressed with BU, UConn, NEU, and Penn States campuses, but I don’t really want to go to Penn State anymore.

Only schools with which I’m familiar are uconn (although I’m instate so I might view admission there as slightly easier), NYU, northeastern, Umass Amherst, and BU.

I’d say you’re into Umass. Uconn and Northeastern are mid/high targets. Admission to BU and NYU seems unlikely unless you manage to bring your SAT up by several hundred points. I’m pretty sure BU requires 2 subject tests, but you only listed one.

Did you apply EA to Uconn? If not, you should (deadline is dec 1st). Your chances for RD are pretty low (I know people with very good stats who have gotten declined) but your EA chances are pretty decent. Definitely try to bring the SAT up.

Good luck! You’re applying to all of the schools I applied to early… weird haha.

Yeah, I did EA to UConn, I am applying to some schools early while others who view gpa more heavily later because I am having a decent senior year so far with 4 AP’s. I really want to go to NYU, BU, NEU, or UConn, but i’d be fine with most of the others.
