Chance me: OH resident, National Hispanic Recognition, 3.94 UW, 32 ACT (33 super); creative writing, screen writing, game story development

That list says that Rochester and Williams are “open curriculum”, even though both require a minimum number of courses in general areas like humanities and science.

OSU too big, but have considered Case, however, it is local to us and she doesn’t want to be local to US🤣

We are headed to do an overnight at Miami at Oxford Honors College. I’ll let you know the details of campus and feel

For additional suggestions, this site may be of interest:

Has she considered Ohio University (in Athens, Oh) which is similar in size to Miami University, but with a less preppy and artsier vibe?

delete - I misread. The Honors/Tutorial at OU seems interesting for sure.

It’s a great program for a self motivated student wanting the autonomy to follow their own curiosity, and would be a good match/target, but the deadline for best consideration is coming up.

I and my kids would go to Case for sure over Miami of Ohio… But I get it, out of my 3 kids none chose UMD, local flagship that CC considered very good.

We are here at Miami now. Nice campus. The only diversity I see is the diversity tour my daughter is attending. About 100 diverse students from within Ohio are staying overnight on campus with formal programming. Will go to dinner in town/ campus. Not feeling the vibe so far.
My husband loves Case.

Miami’s diversity is not on the extreme side with 80% caucasian in total.

CWRU (obviously not the same price) is 36% white followed by 25% Asian.

Different academic focuses; different campus types - one is really nice (IMHO) but has little around. The other is awkward (to me) but is near Little Italy and not far from Cleveland.

In the end, affordability has to be there (and admissions - obviously CWRU is a hard get) - and then you can choose what you like.

There’s lots of other campuses like both but given your major and financial desires, there are alternatives. But hopefully she has a great time at Miami - and it works for her after all. You never know. Make sure she’s not feeling the Vibe. I loved Miami - but my kid didn’t. It’s only her that mattered!!!

A trip that tells you I don’t like it is as valuable as one that says you do - if she doesn’t, figure out why - is it just diversity or is it more? Size, color of buildings, the isolation, etc?

Enjoy the night.
