Chance me on getting into Middlesex?

<p>Heeey everybody. I'm looking to apply to some boarding schools for Fall 2011 - by then I'll be enrolling as a tenth grader - but Middlesex would be my #1 choice. Specifically because the alumni love it, it has a great curriculum, and it also offers this sort of introductory neuroscience course. (I wanna be a neurologist when I'm older.) So, if you could review my stats and stuff below and chance me - be as brutally honest as you can please - I'd really appreciate it. Thank you! </p>

<p>BASICS
I'm 14, about to go into ninth grade.
I'm a girl.
HalfChinese, Half Filipino
I live in Hong Kong and I go to one of the most prestigious international schools here. It offers an IB/MYP program.
My dad's the top in his field, so my family is... pretty rich.
I speak, read and write English and Chinese(Mandarin) fluently. I'm also semi-fluent in French.</p>

<p>GRADES
I consistently occupy the top ten percent of my grade academically. I mostly get A's and B's - or, 7's and 6's, as the IBMYP program call them.
My strongest subjects are English, Chinese, French and Science (specifically biology). I've received achievement awards (#1 in the grade) for English and French. I'm in the top level of Chinese.
I take some classes online, like Honors Biology with JHU CTY Online. I'm hoping to start some medical courses with Brown's Pre-college program by next spring.
I attend lots of summer courses, like French immersion programs, or the CTY summer camp. (I took Intro to Biomedical Sciences and I'm taking neuroscience next year). </p>

<p>ECs
I dance hip-hop/street twice a week and perform at local fundraisers, festivals, etc with my team.
I'm on the volleyball team at school.
I like running. I rank pretty high (Top 15) in the yearly cross country and I think I'll sign up for the team this coming year?
I'm very active in community and service. I'm enrolled in Model United Nations and the Global Issues Network because I really love international relations. I'm also a representative for the student council, and I work with the charities World Wildlife Fund and World Vision.
I do charity work weekly/monthly with this group called Mother's Choice Hong Kong which is for orphans from alcoholic families. I'm one of the youngest volunteers there.
I write essays for the school website, and also report and give insight on global current events. Many of the schoolteachers have taken time out to show my writing to the class because it 'shows initiative' and is very well done - my English teacher has tried to get me to launch a career path towards writing and all, but it's not my true calling.</p>

<p>WHY MIDDLESEX?
well I've just started to do my research... but when I grow up I want to be a neurologist, and they have a class on basic neuroscience, which really interests me. also the student life is reputedly excellent :)</p>

<p>are you international?</p>

<p>Yes I am international.</p>

<p>you seem to have a very impressive resume!</p>

<p>@stacy, Do you know about the of other NE schools that offer neuroscience?</p>

<p>From what I’ve read international students have more competition than students in the US.
That being said… you look really impressive. You look like you’ll probably get in, but then again I’m a rising eighth grader so I can’t really be a judge. I however do know a kid who got into Middlesex and I know what kind of grades/ ECs he did and yours are a lot more impressive.</p>

<p>Thanks everyone for the comments(: I really do hope that I get in!</p>

<p>@ifax108 Definitely, haha, we had 16 people out of 120 in my grade apply for 9th grade last year. International is pretty tough :&lt;/p>

<p>@maddog15, I have no idea, but Middlesex is the only one I’ve seen so far. Here’s the url (the class is called Brain & Behavior) [Middlesex</a> School ~ Course Book](<a href=“http://www.mxschool.edu/academics]Middlesex”>Academics - Middlesex School)</p>

<p>StacyR, I`m also interested in neuroscience. Berkshire and Canterbury have related science courses. Msex is also on my list.</p>
