Looking at transfer applications as Sophomore to Cornell ILR, Vanderbilt (Arts and Sci), UVA (Arts and Sci), and NYU Arts and Sci), I've heard that ILR, and uva have transfer rates between 30-45%

Cornell ILR has a very specific “recommended” schedule, and you haven’t really taken many of the required courses. So, try to change your schedule next semester to fit that more. Interest is very important, and if you say you’re interested in the program, but your classes don’t show it, then they’ll kind of know you only applied because of the high acceptance rate (I’m talking from experience.)

Your SAT scores still matter a lot, and with a 1930, it will be tough to get into Vandy or UVA (OOS). Don’t just pay attention to acceptance rates.

Have you done any ECs in college? Get more involved with your current school if not.

I don’t think the schools you listed are impossible to get into, but they are surely somewhere in the reach spectrum.

thanks for the tips. I’m particularly keen on Vandy more than ILR.

Almost all of these classes I have at Villanova are core curriculum requirements that I’m sort of locked into for the year. (Forgot to mention -Intro to Macro)

I have plenty of EC’s in college so far, I’ve been a member of Villanova Rugby, Hillel, Interfaith Counsel, Financial Management Association, Phi Beta Lambda Business Counsel and I work as a Barista at an on campus cafe.

All things considered, would I be wasting my time with these applications?

Definitely don’t apply to Cornell ILR just because of the high transfer rate. UVa is difficult as well because they have to accept CC students from VA who meet certain requirements, and the fact that you are OOS stacks the deck against you. On top of that, your SAT scores are average. If you had a 4.0 the situation might be different, but right now I I think you should definitely consider Cornell and UVa reaches. I know Vanderbilt has a reputation for having a very generous transfer rate, but the fact that that seems to be your main criterion for selecting a school is worrisome. Still, you’d have a good chance there and at NYU. If you need FA, though, don’t bother with NYU. Aid for transfers here is notoriously appalling.
