Your EC’s look a little weak, but you’re definitely academically qualified/

University of Pennsylvania -reach/ low reach if applying ED
Cornell University - reach/ low reach if applying ED
Penn State University/Thomas Jefferson University: 6 year medical program -low reach
John Hopkins -low reach
Duke University -low reach
University of Notre Dame -low reach
Emory University -match/ high match
Penn State University -match

ECs seem stronger than academics to me, depending on how grades are given at your school.

@moliss I think that grades are a little bit deflated at our school. In none of my classes have i been allowed to get bonus points or retake a test. We rarely have curves, maybe once a year.

UPenn, Cornell - High Reach
Duke - Reach
Emory Notre Dame - Match
Penn State - Math

I think you have a pretty good shot if your essays are the best they can be. Your GPA is fairly low. I also think you should’ve taken the SAT Math II subject test, as Math I is so basic (and basically the same as the math section in the SAT), that colleges don’t care too much about that score.

You have a lot of great EC’s going for you, which is nice; however, you don’t seem to be in a strong leadership position in a lot of them. While its nice to have that huge list of EC’s, IMO Colleges really really like when you’ve been say, a 4-year member, and are now eventually the President, Chairman, VP, etc. etc. etc.

Great going though! This is just my opinion too, I’m no expert at this.

Anyone here chance me back?

<a href=“I feel like just one in many! Chance me at these tough schools? - #2 by Lucas2014 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>I feel like just one in many! Chance me at these tough schools? - #2 by Lucas2014 - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums;

I’d say that you have pretty decent standardized testing and really great EC’s. But still, most of the ivy’s will be tough to get into

University of Pennsylvania -reach
Cornell University - low reach
Penn State University/Thomas Jefferson University: 6 year medical program -high match
John Hopkins -low reach
Duke University -each
University of Notre Dame -high match
Emory University -match
Penn State University -easy match

Your GPA is a little weak, but your extracurriculars are very impressive. Ivy Leagues can be unpredictable sometimes, but if you do really amazing on your SATS and bring up your GPA, you’ll have high chances.

your ec’s are good plus academics too. I think non- ivies are easy & as ivies are predictable, you never know.
but if you have awards & good essays, they can be your low reach

@carmina a low reach to the ivys’?

?!Bump!?

UPenn, Cornell, John’s Hopkins - Reach
Duke, - Low Reach
Emory, Notre Dame - High Match
Penn State - Mid-low Match

Hopkins is only a higher reach due to the medical program there being one of its best programs. You don’t have much of an advantage in Affirmative Action though.

I think Emory is your best bet. It’s more of a low reach than a match. If you are really interested, apply ED. It will increase your chances. Best of luck

I would say you have relatively good chances, with your acceptance chances being around 10% higher than the general acceptance rate. I am pretty sure that you will get in to 4 of the 7 highly competitive institutions you are applying to.

@MBenz23 i meant *unpredictable ivies. sorry.
but for little ivies it can be low reach if essays & awards are good.

I don’t really agree with some other people, these EC’s are kind of weak. Attending a program once is an activity? Sorry, this is just my take.

Good luck though!

-------ACT IS MORE LIKE A 33/34---------

-----TAKE EMORY OUT-----

EC’s are great! But I believe your GPA may be your Achilles’ heel. Thanks for commenting on my post :)

Yep, anytime
