I'm moving during my Senior year and I don't know whether I would be considered an out-of-state resident when I apply next year.

Schools: UCR, UCM, UCSB, and UCSC. (UC)
Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, and San Diego State (CS)

Stats:
Expected GPA (not including Freshman year): 3.3

AP: I'm taking AP English and APUSH.
Next year I'm planning to take AP English Literature, AP Statistics, AP Chemistry, and a 4th one.

SAT: 1710

Going to take the ACT...

EC: Yearbook club for one year.
I've have a job (started since the summer of Sophomore year, currently a Junior).

can’t expect any comments when people are looked down for not having either a 2400, 36, or a 4.0. 27 views strong and no comments.

UCSC/UCSB: Low Reach/Reach
UCR/UCM/SDSU/CSULB/CSUF: Match/High Match
What is your intended major?

The UCs won’t be easy. Aside from Merced, I think they may all be reaches.

Long Beach and Fullerton should probably work out. San Diego State might be a bit of a stretch, but unless your major is heavily impacted, I think you’ve got a fair shot.

I don’t know much about the UC schools besides Berkeley, but your low SAT scores and poor ECs will make selective schools difficult. I’d focus on getting your SAT or ACT scores significantly up if at all possible, as you do have decent course rigor and GPA. If you could get the SAT up to a 2000 or an ACT in the 30 ballpark, you could probably gain entrance to the non-Berkeley/LA UCs. You don’t seem to have any especially compelling non-scholastic achievements, so if you want to go to a competitive school you will have to be towards the top academically.

@YeezusBasedGod : Check the common data sets for each university you are interested in for the 2104 in-coming freshman class to see where your STATS fall. For Safeties, you want to be at the 75 percentile or above and Matches at 50 percentile at least. Also check your in-service Cal State since you get priority. Just google common data set.
There is a lot of data to sift through on the common data sets but focus on GPA (unweighted) and SAT scores.
Cal States use the Eligibility index for admission: Weighted UC/CSU GPA x800 + (SAT CR + Math Scores). An EI of 4100 or above is good for these schools: SDSU/CSULB/CSUF.

For UC’s your essays and EC’s will be an additional component. FYI: UC’s have been focused on GPA vs Test scores so GPA 4.0+ would make up for a lower test score. Also on your essays, you can explain your lower GPA if you have a valid reason. Good Luck
