A few years ago I would have judged your chances for acceptance to be good. Over the last few years admission to UD has become increasingly competitve for a number of reasons. The largest number of OOS applicants are from NJ (with the largest number of OOS students currently at UD being from NJ). Some people feel that this might be a negative factor in your chances just based on numbers (but I’m am not sure there is reliable data to support this position-I don’t believe UD uses a quota system for OOS students regarding % of admissions from each state-I believe all OOS applicants are competing with all OOS applicants, not just those from their particular state). With that being said I feel your SAT and HS courses are in your favor-your GPA is on the borderline. If you are have taken a full course load (5 major subjects) this past semester and are scheduled to do the same this semester your chances are better. Overall I would rate your chances as being fair to maybe a little better. Best of luck to you.

One thing in your favor could be race. UD is not that diverse and you could get bumped up a bit because of that.

Thank you for the responses. This year I am taking AP Biology, Honors Anatomy, Honors English, Accelerated Precalc, and AP Psychology.

is penn state really strict about gpa and sat score? i thought you did pretty alright and youre taking hard classes…cannot believe that denied u

christine, Penn State is ALL about gpa and SAT/ACT. Thats more or less all they look at.

Do EC’s not even count these days?

For Penn State I’d probably say MAYBE if your on the border, but then maybe not even because they have so many applicants they can choose the best of the best. For places like Pitt, UD, Uconn, and other state schools yes they definitely do
