I'm nervous because I'm out of state and my SATs weren't good.

I’d say that if you were in state you are definitely in. Because your out of state everything is iffy. Try to get your SAT up. Also is your GPA weighted or unweighted?

thats my gpa weighted

It’s kinda hard to say since your out of state. If you were in state I would say you have an excellent chance, but what the heck why should where you live be a determinant of whether you’ll get in or not. I think you have a great chance, good luck! Btw do you know your UF recalculated GPA? If not you should definitely call and ask. :)

Thanks a lot! I don’t know my UF recalculated GPA. I’ll give them a call

Just to let you know, my college counselor contacted admissions a few months back and they told her they’re residency-blind in admissions i.e. it doesn’t matter if you’re in-state or out-of-state. They claimed that they simply get a lot fewer OOS apps, and thus admit fewer OOS students. I don’t know whether this is entirely true, but I’m hoping it is.

^hope it’s true as well. Out of state applicants shouldn’t be discriminated against just because they live out of Florida.

I was always led on to believe because public schools are funded by tax money, they tend to prefer instate students (essentially the instate students/families have been helping fund the school just by living in the state).

Private schools don’t get funded by tax money so they don’t really care where their students come from.

As for the OP: It is hard to say, but I think you’ll get in. You’re SAT is a bit low, but everything else looks good and it’s not like you completely bombed the SAT.

wow i hope that’s true that they don’t know if you’re IS or OOS. My friend goes to UF and our scores for gpa and SAT were almost identical and he was in the academy of finance, and he got in. He also had like no community service so im praying.

^well they do know if your IS oir OOS because of your residency qualifications.
