However I do have 3 H classes this year with a 4.0 (firstquarter) and plan on taking 3 APs + a college class sen yr.

UMD is my first choice and OOS is pretty selective so I’m worried. I’m still a junior so if i need to improve no is the time I have to do it so any advice is helpful. My course rigor is a downfall and I wont be talking APs untill Senior year.

Also does UMD consider subject tests and if yes will that help my chances.

Thanks!!!

Umd doesn’t take subject tests and it only looks at math and reading scores for the sat. I’m a md resident so from my knowledge you’d prob get in if you were a resident but if you’re applying as a compsci major oos your chances aren’t looking too hot w those stats. Try to get some computer related internships, enter some coding competitions, take a bunch of computer courses, etc. to show focus on that field and bump those grades and SAT score up. I’ve talked to ppl from diff counties in Md and I’m pretty sure all of them were taking APs pretty early in high school (like sophomore year) so take as many APs as you can senior year because of you apply by priority deadline they don’t see your grades for senior year.

Why do you ant to study CS? You need really strong grades in math, and the above poster is correct in that most CS people have participated in CS ECs.

UMD has a lot of wonderful majors. Why don’t you look through the other options and see if you find something interesting?
