You should be in with no issue.

The money thing is another question. Scholarship funds have really gone down of late and most that are still here are often targeted at specific groups usually from Texas. They’ve cut out National Merit money without really publicizing it–the money we had just a couple years ago is gone because of the economy.

If you do get any scholarship from UT, you’re automatically reduced to in-state tuition. Otherwise, expect to pay the full $40k. UT’s financial aid department generally considers the words “financial aid,” outside of scholarships, to mean “loans.”

Hi! I am OOS too and got into architecture - I’ll be a freshman this fall. I would say we have pretty similar stats (I had a 34 ACT and not as many dual enrollment credits . . . ) so I would think you are definitely in.

As far as financial aid . . . I did not receive any scholarships but the architecture school does not offer very many like some of the others schools do. I had a low estimated contribution on the FAFSA (what you fill out to receive financial aid), and I got about 12k in grants. There were loans to cover the entire amount, but at a ridiculous percent (8% - unreasonable). But! definitely look for local scholarships as you sound like you would be a good candidate. I used fastweb to search, and it definitely helped.

Let me know if there’s something else you want to know! Good luck!
