Additional Information:

I currently own and operate a computer assembly business called Blue Circuit PC. I assembly computers from parts to provide tailor made computers for the consumer. I have been doing this since freshman year. During the summer when I have more time I have a workload of approximately 15 computers a week. At an average profit of 120 dollars per computer. It pays well to say the least. I also do this during the school year but I can only complete about 2 computers per week due to other obligations. It is a successful business that I am very proud of. I think the admissions staff at these schools will view this favorably. I devote around 4 hrs per week during the school year and 30-35 hrs per week during the summer

Thanks in advance guys!!! I would also appreciate some thoughts on how I could bolster my application. Maybe somethings I need to emphasis over others. Thanks again!!!

Very good overall

Thanks!!! bump

Great shot at all of those

Though I’m kind of skeptical… you get 15 customers and make 1800 bucks a week in the summer?

Most definitely. It is a good business. The major hook is that I can configure a computer for approximately 50-150 dollars less than a comparable equipped name brand computer. I am able to do this because of a contact my parents have with a computer parts distributor. I basically get the parts at cost. But I don’t take home that 1800 because because I have to pay employees (aka friends). So I don’t take all the profits directly. About 900 dollars at the end of the week.
Bump!!!

bump, does no one have any opinions? Please chance me. Your insight will be much appreciated!

I’d say in at all those except maybe for Harvard, but that’s a toss up for everyone

thanks man! bump

Well bmw328
It seems here that you are pretty much well-rounded. I would say you have an extremely legit shot at all of the universities that you have listed. Because you are a minority, that will definitely bolster your chances, especially into schools in the Northeast region. Clearly you were a semifinalist for national merit which also adds points. Now remember that your application isn’t complete. You must have outstanding essays and recommendation letters to get into Harvard and Stanford. And your recommendation letters must reveal qualities that you have developed as a person. Your transcript and scores cannot say the same things your rec. letters say.

I honestly wish you the best of luck getting into your colleges. I myself am applying to Harvard too.
Good Job! And we shall see in April!

Thanks for the well written response! Your reply is appreciated. Good luck with Harvard as well! My teachers that sent rec’s basically love me! I am sure those are fine. My essay dealt with my recent trip to Nigeria and Ghanna. I saw first hand what true poverty is. I wrote about how that impacted me as a person seeing as I am from Nigeria.

Thanks for your reply and Good Luck with Harvard!

bmw… that’s AWESOME…

Admissions officers will ABSOLUTELY look on the business in positive light. That is something that instantly separates you from the crowd. Only a handful (if even that) of potential college freshman can say they own and operate a prospering business.

I assume you dedicated quite a lot of essay space to this, because it is definitely something you want to display.

Also all this, PLUS URM status just augments your app even more.

So, in short, I’d agree with everyone else. Great shot at all the universities listed, with the exception of Harvard. I don’t think anyone but the admissions officers themselves can say anything about Harvard.

But in all honesty, don’t be too surprised if you make it ;p

Thanks for the kind words man :)

any more opinions!
