I go to a decent public high school, I guess, occasionally sends students to schools like these.

Chance meh!

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump.

(^That was a bump)

I’d say that if in your essays you can make your ECs out to have value, then you have a pretty good shot. Otherwise it seems like you’re a really strong student who just randomly picks ECs, haha. Could you be recruit for VB? Or do colleges even have male VB…?=P

What is VB? Visitors’ Burea?

Your chance: 9.5%

Can I have some soup now? :D

Volleyball. Duhh…=P

Actual chance based on this year’s admission percentage: 7.4%

Woo, go volleyball! Columbia has a men’s club team, but not a varsity squad afaik.

Looking at your stats you seem like a good candidate. Work on your essays!

“volleyball”

facepalm facepalm facepalm

And yes melody, you can have soup.
Swingtime: that seems a bit effortless and assumes admissions are 100% random (instead of 99% random, like in reality) So, no soup for you.

You mean I have zero percent chance of soup? Can’t I have a 7.4% chance?

Look, NO ONE can legitimately “chance” you. NO ONE!!! All we can say is whether or not your application could be competitive. You have been told that yours could be. So, your best bet is to submit the most competitive application possible and accept that your chances are roughly 7.4%

^ chill… just go out and buy your own soup. :D

what type of soup is it? :D

R-r-r-ramen noodle soup!!

I’m a current Columbia student (class of ‘14) and I’m working on starting a company that provides application and essay counseling/advice, but I’m trying to freelance my services a bit before diving in. I’m planning on offering one on one skype conferences to evaluate candidates’ essays or applications/supplements. Contact me at rcm2140@columbia.edu for more info!
