Chance me Penn CAS Transfer

I’m a current freshman at Drexel and majoring in International Business and Marketing but am looking to transfer to either Penn’s CAS program for International Relations or a safety school in New York. I did not do as well as I could have in high school grade-wise, but I have been definitely doing well at Drexel. I failed 2 math classes (Algebra and Calc) in high school, and did not do well in Statistics (but scored 4 on AP exam).

Strong Recommendation Letters

I’m looking to get at least a 3.9 GPA, if not a 4.0 this term at Drexel, we have a quarter system and this term ends in March about a week after the applications are due for Penn, so they will have 2 full terms for reference.

I want to transfer because I won’t be able to study abroad at Drexel due to my co-op cycle, and Drexel doesn’t have an IR major.

Will they even consider me if my high school grades are so bad, or will college grades give me a chance? Thanks!

It’s my understanding that you can’t transfer to Penn State main campus as a sophomore. You either start as a freshman or transfer as a junior. This is from their website:

Eligibility for Penn State Campuses
Our campuses have different eligibility requirements for four-year programs. Please review the following campus-specific information.

Minimum GPA for University Park: 2.5 GPA
Minimum GPA for other campuses: 2.0 GPA

Transferring directly to University Park

Student must have completed two years (4 semesters) of full-time college coursework at another institution and/or another Penn State campus by the time of transfer to be eligible for admission.

Students with less than the 4 semesters of work are eligible to transfer to Penn State, but they must transfer to a campus other than University Park (and then work with their adviser and program on transitioning to University Park as a Penn State student).

OP, this is a forum for Pennsylvania State University, University Park. As you know since you are already in Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, aka Penn, is a different school. Which school are you hoping to transfer to — Penn State, or Penn?

Sorry about that, UPenn/University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia to clarify

Make sure you meet their requirements. If you transfer for your sophomore year, they will most likely look at your act/sat and gpa. Your sat is very good, but that gpa would hurt you. Even with just your Drexel gpa it would be hard to get in because of how competitive it is.

This is a Penn State forum. No one can answer your question about University of Pennsylvania. Two totally different schools. I’d head over to the U Penn Forum and ask the question there. For Penn State, you can’t transfer in your sophomore year at all.

Thanks I know but I didn’t post it here, I think it automatically posted in this forum
