First off, thank you all in advance for any guidance or opinions you can give to me regarding my chances. It is very much appreciated.

I am a 29 white male
Currently going to a California community college
Hope to transfer to a UC and concentrate on accounting.

My Stats:
Between 2001 (when I graduated high school) and Fall of 2008 I got 39 credits (12 classes) worth of Ws and 9 credits (3 classes) worth of Fs

Since Fall of 2011 when I re-enrolled:
I have a 3.91 GPA
2 of the F's have been removed through academic renewal and the other has been changed due to retaking the class
EC: My only one is from 12-18 being in the Boy Scout of America and Achieving Eagle Scout and holding many high ranking area positions.
Since becoming an adult then I have been very active as an adult leader and mentor to this day

By Spring of 2014 I will have all the required classes I need to transfer in to SJSU (If they accept me) per assist.org

But to go to a UC I noticed I need one more Math and a foreign language which would add a year onto my wait.

Again, thank you in advance for any advice and opinions you can provide.

Did you apply to UCs for Fall 2013? How many units do you have? What UCs are you interested in? Do you have the prerequisites finished for those UCs? What level of English and Math are you currently in right now? Will you have IGETC completed?

Did you apply to UCs for Fall 2013? - No, I will be done with the IGETC in Spring of 2014

How many units do you have? - Currently 26 UC transferable

What UCs are you interested in? - UCB, UCLA, UCSD are the main ones. I live in Northern Cal so unless I got into one of them I can not see the advantage of the other UCs over SJSU

Do you have the prerequisites finished for those UCs? - Trying. I am changing myself now to see if pushing myself would be worth it or just settling on SJSU.

What level of English and Math are you currently in right now? - Finished both English classes. Took intermediate algebra last semester (not transferable). I am taking Calculus this upcoming semester and I would need to take a second calculus for a UC which wasn’t in my old SJSU plan.

Will you have IGETC completed? - In Spring 2014

You seem to be on your way.

As for the calculus class, are you sure you can go from Int Algebra to Calculus 1? You usually have to take Trigonometry and pre-calculus before you can even take calculus.

Yes, you will have to take a language to complete IGETC. I recommend Spanish

UCLA does not have an accounting program. It will fall under the Econ major which is heavily impacted. You are actually below the average GPA admitted(3.93) for last year. If you don’t have all the prerequisites done, you will pretty much be rejected. If UCLA really is a place you want to go, make sure you get those prerequisites done and keep that GPA up.

Looks like specific accounting majors or concentrations are mainly at CSUs, according to ASSIST:

You can take Business Calculus right after Intermediate Algebra (at least, I was able to) but UCLA requires regular Calc 1 and Calc 2 which is Int. Algebra -> Trig -> Pre calc -> Calc 1 -> Calc 2.

Correct. I am taking “Applied Calculus” but I just said Calc to make it easy
