What are my chances for Stanford, UCLA and UCB?
Thanks, again, be crude and mean, I'd rather look at the truth then live in false hope >__<

Oh, I forgot to post, my GPA has gotten progressively better over the semesters (went from 3.5 first freshman semester to 4.0 last junior semester). Not sure if that makes a difference. But Ya, thanks! =]

Because of your GPA and ACT score, I think UCB and UCLA are well within reach for you IF you’re a California resident. If you’re out of state, it’ll be considerably more difficult to get in, but definitely still possible. For you, I think the biggest problem is your EC’s. You don’t have any leadership, and 100 CS hours, while notable for most state universities, is not impressive for UCB and UCLA, and definitely not Stanford.

It’ll probably come down to essays, teacher reccomendations, and what they “see” in you. I’d say low reach for UCLA and UCB, and high reach for Stanford. But don’t forget to apply to a safety school, in case you get turned down by all three (although I do think you’ll get accepted by at least one).

Best of luck!

Oh sorry, I forgot to mention.
4 year football captain, 1 year wrestling captain
recieved: hardest working award my freshman year for wrestling, recieved brahma pride award sophomore and junior year for wrestling and recieved coaches award my sophomore year for football
Also I was Senior Patrol Leader for quite some time in boyscouts

Do you think you can get back to me please? To see if this would make a difference? Thank you.

Edit: And yes, I am a california resident

Thanks for clarifying.

You’re a California resident. In that case, you have a great shot at UCLA and UCB and I’d say they’re both good fits rather than reaches. I’d bet that you get into at least one of them, probably both.

The fact that you were football captain for 4 years and wrestling captain for 1 year will definitely make a difference with your EC’s: it shows that you have good leadership skills. I doubt it would make or break the decision, though.

Just write great essays, and if you have good recommendations, I do think you’ll get into at least UCLA and UCB. If you get lucky, maybe even Stanford. Good luck again!

More of a good shot than a great shot, and I wouldn’t call either a “good fit”, more like low reaches. Your test scores are good, but your GPA is a little lower than that of the typical Berkeley applicant; less so for UCLA, but still not rendering you a shoo-in by any means. Also, your ECs are solid but sparse, which may make Berkeley (and definitely Stanford) difficult for you.

wow…3 varsity sports…when do you get a breather?
Anyways, your schedule is pretty good, your SAT2/ACT are dang impressive, and your gpa is nice and solid. Plus your an Eagle Scout.
UCLA- match/low match <- would be quite surprised if you didn’t make it there, but their unpredictable =/
Berkley- match, great chances, just tie it up with a great essay
Stanford- quite likely. Try attracting the scouts to see if they’ll be interest in recruiting you for your skills+brains.

@decrescendo: Thank you!!! Your words are very encouraging and I’ll definately write great essays.
@Swimstar: Thanks, I’ll work on my GPA and my essays this year.
@Loncria: Thank you too! I’ll try to attract some Stanford scouts to see what I can do.

(Bump)
Would anyone else be kind enough to rate my chances?
Also, can anyone else tell me a good fit for myself?
