chance me please <<33

hi! I’m a senior in high school and wellesley is def my dream school!! here are my stats & such. please chance me bc i’m anxious like that. applying regular decision only because wellesley is mad expen$ive and i need to see the financial aid

background
white female from new england, upper middle class family, public school. some family problems since i was young

gpa weighted - 4.05
it’s relatively low in comparison to people in my (competitivish) hs, so i’m not including my rank. i average out as a b+ or a- student so you could say my grades are my weakest link. i ended with all b’s sophomore year BUT that was because i was going through some very serious family things that ended with me moving out… lol. my gc is explaining it in detail to the college

act - 35
taken once, but i’m nervous bc ik gpa usually matters more

essay
been working on it since march… i think it’s acceptable… idk… i’ve looked at it too many times to be objective at all whoops. my english teacher approved it tho so i think it’ll be fine

ap’s
I got a 5 on apush, ap lang and ap human geo
currently taking ap bio, ap french, ap stat, ap lit, ap gov

ec
editor in chief of my school’s literary arts magazine, varsity letter in marching band all four years (somehow it’s considered a varsity sport at my school?? i’m not complaining haha), member of green team four years, stage crew member four years, stage manager this year, second place in grade wide rotary club essay contest, held the same after school job for four years, member of chorus and band for too many years, manager of an out of school girl band

soooo yeah. as i said before i’m applying regular decision with early evaluation which is stressful in itself. pls chance me :))))) thank you v much

Hey!! Your extracurriculars particularly stand out, and if you feel confident in your essay, I think you have a shot! The one part I would be concerned about are your grades - especially because you DO have to include your class rank in your college letter, or at least your counselor will. So if you have a low class rank, you really have to be compensating with those extracurriculars and a stunning essay.

Have you run Wellesley’s NPC to get an idea of the cost?

From a current student: I had a similar GPA and lower ACT score than you (4.2 and 34 respectively), so I wouldn’t worry too much about grades! Your ECs look pretty strong, although is there anything that you have done or want to do more about regarding literature? Being an EIC of the school lit mag is excellent, but I would look into online literary magazines or opportunities outside of school.

Also a thing about RD is that it does lower your chances to getting in, and if you apply ED II and get in but don’t like the financial package, that’s pretty much the only acceptable reason you can cancel an ED. I would talk more to your counselor about this.
