Chance me please? A bit long, but still? Thanks :)

I'm going to be a junior in high school (class of 2011), Asian, and live in the California suburbs, going to the best public high school in my district. The majority of the people here take Pre-calculus their sophomore year, wage an average of 5-6 AP classes their junior year, and get straight A's. It's a very competitive school and centered very much on academic performance - people with C's are shunned and labeled as "stupid" (which is SO unfair!)

I also should mention that my school is fairly new, and we've only had 2 grad classes. Our school doesn't offer Honors courses (sans Chemistry and Pre-cal and French, Chinese, German, and Spanish) and little APs (Bio, Chem, European History, Lit, Lang, Spanish, French, Chinese, Physics, US History, Econ, Govt, Calculus AB-BC, Stats)

Colleges I Plan To Apply To Next Summer
-University of Southern California (would do early, but they don't offer it)
-Northwestern University (early?)
-UC Berkeley, LA, San Diego, Irvine, Davis
-Syracuse University (early?)
-NYU

Chance me please, thank you! I'll chance you back, just leave your link :]

probably-University of Southern California
good match-Northwestern University
yes to all. berkeley is unpredictable though.-UC Berkeley, LA, San Diego, Irvine, Davis
dont know-Syracuse University
yes-NYU

chance my main?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/720705-what-my-chances.html</a></p>

syracuse - yes

Honestly, I think you have a great shot at all of those
I would call all of them safeties/matches (except northwestern), you could definitely shoot a little higher with your stats

If I were you I would work very hard to get all As junior year and try to get 2250+ (above that and it doesn’t really matter, once you hit 2250, STOP =D)
those subject test scores would certainly make you a strong applicant

As for your ecs, devote as much time to them as you can and get as many leadership postions as you can (they are like candy XD)

With good essays I would say that you’re in at all of the listed schools! (w/the exception of NW, that is not a lock, but you certainly have a great shot!)

Good Luck =D

oh btw, you’re diversity is very good (history, journalism, + your ecs and psych/soc), BUT make sure that in your app you tie those things together and make them some kind of amalgam that works =D
If you can show a relationship between your actions and your passions you’ll be a smash ;)

Hahahahah, thanks everybody for the tips! :]
@USNA, not sure about your opinion…I don’t feel the same way as you, that’s all. I feel as if you’re being too nice.

Brutality appreciated!

Hey, I also think that you have a great chance at any of these schools. I’d say that you’re a good match for Syracuse and NYU, and the you will most likely get into your state schools (although UC Berkeley and UCLA can be a toss-up). I would watch out for Northwestern though, cause its very hard to get into. I’ve had a friend this year who got rejected with great stats, so you never really know.
My advice to you would be to continue to work hard, and if you don’t choose to apply early, don’t put all your hopes and dreams on one school. If you’re going to keep this list (or add more schools) make sure you’d be happy at any of them.

Wow! You seem really well qualified, especially given your competitive environment! 750 on Japanese, nice O.o Are you a native speaker of Japanese? Personally, I’m planning on taking it in college =D
In terms of where you’ll get in, I think you’re good everywhere except Berkeley which is anybody’s guess because your school doesn’t have too much of a history as of now and Northwestern which may be a reach. Good luck =)

Thanks for the advice, everyone :]
& @KGB1337, I’m not a native speaker of Japanese.

I think you have a pretty good chance at USC because you have a very well-rounded resume. I’d say yes to NU as well pending your SAT/ACT scores and whatnot (since they pretty much seem to rely solely on numbers).

lol I’m definitely not being nice, I honestly believe that you are a strong applicant to all schools short of HYSPM

good luck with whatever you decide

HYSPM? Harvard, Yale, S____, Princeton, MIT…
Hahaha, any more advice? I’d appreciate it, truly.

OH! Stanford. Hahaha.

I think you have a good chance at most of those schools. Northwestern and Berkeley might be a little more difficult, but your application is still much better than average.

Isn’t my 4.0 WEIGHTED GPA such a “turn-off” in terms of college apps? :
My school rank, though they don’t give them to us, is probably like…67/250.

I believe for USC and Syracuse you have a very good shot, but I’m unsure for the UCs.

Is USC your first choice school?

I think your stats are great, and the fact that your school is very competitive gives you leeway on your GPA, which is actually very good.
Your ECs are good, but try and play up a passion that grabs the college’s attention
I think that your in everywhere except Northwestern and Berkeley, which could be a little bit tough, but i would be surprised if you dont get into 1 of those 2.
If you play up a passion, you should be set for those 2 schools.
Good luck!

Your GPA is sort of low, but it’s good that you plan to work on this. I think you should make most of your schools except USC, Northwestern and UC Berkeley are a maybe. If Northwestern is your first choice, then apply ED and that will help your chances. I’m sure that you will be able to get into one of these, and I think you have a good list of matches, reaches, and safeties. Good luck!

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/722896-chances-great-engineering-schools.html</a></p>

USC is my first choice. :]

If you get close to your estimated standardized test scores, then i think your in good shape for all of the colleges you listed. Just keep that GPA up and your doing good. Best of luck.

You have a very good chance at Davis/SD/Irvine.
Cal and UCLA could go either way.
