Chance me, please! (a hopeful junior)

I’d like to study nursing at BC. Keep in mind that I am a junior.

98.97% cumulative GPA (from 5 semesters, weighted).
My 5th semester gpa was 99.70%

This year: AP Language/Comp.
Next Year: AP Calc AB, AP Eng. Lit, AP Bio (darn College board cut AP Italian so…)
I take the toughest courseload possible with the exception of history…I decided not to take APUSH after figuring out that I pretty much hate history lol.

I go to a private Catholic high school. The class size is about 300. Ranks are not available but I estimate I am in the top 10%. I have been on Principals Honor Roll for 3 semesters and only 15-25 (?) kids make it each semester (which is a 99% or higher GPA for the semester). I’m actually gonna try to figure out this rank.

ECs are pretty scarce unfortunately. I have done 70 hours of community service at the local hospital (for "medical experience) and hope to get more hours this summer after I have knee surgery. 50 of those hours have been counted for a school requirement. And I have an additional 25 hours under my belt for the school requirement for freshman year. I have done softball through my park district every summer my entire life…I was going to continue this year but like I said I’m having knee surgery so that’s done with. I do freelance Italian tutoring. I have no leadership positions; however I am an active member of the Italian Club (missed elections AGAIN due to knee injury!!). I also participate in Science Club.

Awards:
Principals Honors for 3 semesters, High Honors my freshman year (93-99 GPA)
Italian National Honor Society, will soon be finding out if I was accepted to NHS
Published Poet

ACT: 30
Eng 35, Math 27, Reading 30, Science 27, Writing 8
(December. Taking it again in April)
Will most likely take Math Level 1 and Italian SAT Subject Tests for the requirement. Is the SAT pretty much necessary for BC? Or could I get by with just an ACT score?

Thank you so much for the help!

I think your chances are very good. Your GPA, test scores, and class rank certainly make you competitive, but BC has so many qualified applicants that the lack of EC's could hurt you. I would try to get in as many hours of community service at the hospital as you can before you send in your application; that would certainly help with admission to CSON since it shows your interest in health care. (If appropriate, you may want to explain how your knee injury curtailed your participation in ECs on your application.)

Since you have taken the ACT with Writing, you have already completed your testing requirement for BC. You do NOT need to take any SAT subject tests since you have taken the ACT.

And just to assure you about the SAT -- my son was admitted EA last year and he submitted only his ACT score to BC.

So helpful. Thank you!!
