Chance Me Please and ill Chance Back! Be as Harsh as you please!

I live in Southern California and ill be a Senior this year
I have a 1790 SAT Score and my goal is to bring it up somewhere near the 2000. My SAT II Score is 1310 and my goal for that is around 1410. Then my ACT is 29 and my goal for that is around 32. And now your probably wondering why am I worried.... MY GPA is a 2.7!
Ive done sports, been in clubs and have almost 100 hours of communite service and ive been in AVID for 4 year if that does any good. Also have passed APUSH and AP Lang Exams and will be take 4 AP this year.

I want to get chanced for:

UCR
UCM
UCSC
SDSU
SFSU
Cal Poly Pomona
University of Arizona
University of Oregon
Arizona State University
Oregon State

And fill free to recommend some, it would be great if you did!!!!
Also ill chance back!

Actually, I knew why you were worried when you said…

…1790 SAT Score, …SAT II Score is 1310(could you divide this up into individual scores for ea. subject?). The 2.7 GPA is just makes it all the more worrisome.

You need a 3.0 GPA to apply for UCs, so unless you somehow raise that up your senior year so that it is reflected in your November application, there’s a zero chance of you getting in. One thing you can do is take community college courses that give grades BEFORE the end of November.

I’d say all of the other universities you noted are reaches because of your dismal GPA.

Being from the East Coast, I’m not super-familiar with any West Coast state schools, but i’ll try…

match: UCM, SDSU, SFSU, Ariz. St, Oregon St, Cal Poly
reach: UCR, UCSC, Arizona, Oregon

Anyway, your ACT and SAT (especially your ACT) are strong enough to get into any school on your list. However, your GPA could mess up your chances to any of those as well (which is a bummer b/c its easier to improve SAT scores than GPA).
It looks like the UC’s weight GPA pretty heavily in admissions, UCR and UCSC have over 90% graduated in the top 10% of their HS class, so that could hurt you, but you’re well above average as far as SAT/ACT scores go.

Um actually the UC’s system isnt at required 3.0 until the FALL of 2012

SAT
Math- 650
Reading-600
Writing-540

SAT II
Math-610
USH-700

But it requires a 2.8 this year. Have you calculated your UC GPA?

Yeah its a 2.87

anyone else!

Well to be quite frank, your GPA and SAT scores are quite dismal. Your GPA is out of your hands now (except for senior year), but you still have a chance to raise up your SAT I and SAT II scores. Check the UC site as to until when you can take those tests. I don’t know if your ACT scores are good or not, since I don’t know anything about it. Your ECs are pretty good though.
Overall, I think the UCs and maybe Cal Poly will be reaches, the rest should be good.
