Chance me please and thank you!

I think I am a pretty decent candidate except for my SATs. I know they are low for the Villanova average but I have taken them twice and actually did worse the second time then the first time.

GPA: over 96 unweighted, over 98 weighted (not sure of exact yet)
SAT: math 600 critical reading 620 writing 650
4 AP classes by graduation
played softball every year of high school
head altar server at my church, collect A LOT of community service hours there
work on family farm, have grown up on farm
teacher recommendations are not written yet but the teachers love me so I am expecting good ones and a excellent letter from my priest at church
my grandfather went to Villanova
planning on writing my essay on how growing up on the farm has given me a sense of community because of how farm involves community and how villanova is big on community feel and how farm has taught me plenty of hardworking values (not an essay a lot could write)

I could go into greater dealer but I think that's a pretty fair overview of me.

Thank you in advance for opinions.

Definitely apply! Nova loves service on apps! As far as SAT scores, I think they are horribly misrepresented on the website and I would say your scores are just fine unless you are trying to enter engineering/sciences. Alumni connection is also becoming more important as Nova tries to increase global awareness, so that also increases your chance. If it is your dream then try.

Just remember that admissions make no sense, it is all a game. Are you prepared to take on lots of debt for the next twenty years?

Which majors/programs are you considering?

I toured 'Nova and feel in love and it would be my dream school but at the same time I know that I would leave there in debt. I wnt to major in communications and I am also looking at Seton Hall which I could get good money at and has a better communications program.

I hear you about the game of admissions. When I read about people getting in sometimes there is a pattern but sometimes no, its crazy!

Thank you for your opinion!

With a comm degree you should try to limit debt, it is more difficult to enter the market and receive a strong job offer with such a degree. Try to double major with something in addition to communications, trust me I have met many comm majors who wish they paired it with business, econ, humanities, history or something along those lines. Comm itself is kind of an odd degree, try to get a specialization within the major if you are focused. They say undergrad majors don’t matter but employers want something else in addition to an arts major, maybe even a language.

Admins is a total game no doubt. Don’t let it get to your head, just ignore it and realize that things happen for a reason and purpose. Hope everything works out for you!

I’ve been considering minoring in French since Ive been doing really good in it during high school and I enjoy it. But, yeah I keep hearing all the same things about a communications degree. I ideally want to go into sports journalism but wouldnt mind political journalism either, so I guess a political science minor or double major would work there.
