I go to a public school in NYC, fairly competitive but different. There are no 10 Ap's if anything there are 5 or 6 max that you can take. but anyway.... Right now I'm interested in architecture or engineering programs but i also have an interest in history and business/econ

My top choice would be Rice (i'm debating applying ED) other than that I have no real attachment to the other schools... I like them thats why i picked them but, I would go to all of them if that was the only school I got into but Rice is well my favorite

Stanford
U Penn
Duke
Carnegie Mellon
U Mich
Northwestern
UT Austin
UC Berkley

Then not so sure about but still liking (not so sure because they don't really specalize in the fields of study that i'm looking at.

American U
UNC-Chapel Hill
Wake Forest
UMD- college park (if you have any other suggestions i'll glady take em)

Stats

Gpa: not quite sure here my school goes on an out of 100 scale I have a 94 unweighted...... if i use the school scale (93-100 is a 4.0) i have a 4.0 but it doesn't make much sense......If not that i've gotten 3.85 on another scale and 3.76 on yet another, so i'm still not sure but when i get back to school i'm asking my GC.

Rank: School doesn't rank but they do have a profile.. I missed the top 7% by 1 point (95-100 is top 7%) realistically i'm porb top 10% but colleges who knows what they will think so I would say conservativley prob top 15%

I've taken the hardest course load available that doesn't conflict with one another in my school.. (no honor classes just AP offered in 11th and 12th)

So in NY state we have to take regents... yes they don't really count for anythign but i thought i'd list em anyway

The thing with me is that i didn't do a ton of clubs and activities but the ones that i did do i'm very passionate about and i have shown interest beyond the activity

Varsity sports: I play both soccer and baseball.... this takes up huge chunks of time... I plan on hopefully being able to make a club team in college... I have participated in these sports 3 years so far and will participate in them during senior year unless i get hurt.
Outside of school i do play these sports. I actually have gotten most of my community service (plus some) done by helping organize and coach in my Little league.. I love to teach kids and act as a mentor. If i had to pick a sport i would pick baseball over soccer without a doubt.

Model U.N. - I have participated in this for all 4 years don't hold a position-- have won multiple honorable mentions at conferences

Stock market game- yes i realize this isn't really that nice but its something that i love doing... since enrolling in the club... i took a course at columbia during the summer on financial markets from there i invested some of my own money and have been pretty successful.

I have participated in other clubs but they are all more for fun and aren't as intellectually engaging...

I have taken 2 courses at Columbia University... Intro to econ and Nanotechnology
both i enjoyed and got good recommendations from

Right now i'm interning at honeybee robotics (the place that did the mars rover) I'm having fun... while i haven't done much but interning stuff (video editing, cataloging) i have been able to help on some projects and basically get a better idea what it's like to be an engineer.

I have a lot of hobbies. I love to take pictures (i have been selected for an Arts connections show/contest in NYC for one of my pictures) I'm thinking about submitting a portfolio (deff for the required architecture port. at rice) I like to build things... models and really anything that needs fixing... but i enjoy the models part.

Also i have 1 rec on teh way and another in a bit... one i hope is good considering the teacher is my favorite, i've had him for three years and i'm one of his fav. students

IF you neeed to know it i'm a Male and White... don't know if this helps but i do have a strong italian background..

Thanks a bunch.... I'll try my best to chance back if you want....
