Hi im a sophomore (I know its still young and my chances will change by the time im a senior but please tell me where I stand as of now :) )
okay so
my unweighted gpa is 3.8
my weighted gpa is 4.55
I haven't taken the PSAT
on the Pre ACT I got a 28 (but I didn't bring a calculator because I didn't know they were allowed - oops. so with a calculator and some practice im sure this score will go up on my real ACT)

my freshman year classes were
Cultural Geography Honors
Biology Honors
English 1 Honors
Algebra 2
Religion (I go to a catholic school in southern ca)
Dance
Latin 1 Honors

my classes this year are
English 2 Honors
Geometry Honors
Chemistry Honors
World History Honors
Religion 2
Latin 2 Honors
Greek 1 Honors (I will be taking greek IB- my school is the only school in the US that offers this class and im the only girl in my area that is taking both Latin and Greek. There is only one other person in my greek class/level. 12 total greek students at my school)

(Also, if you know anything about it, next year should I take full IB or should I take AP's?)

I run on Cross Country and Track and Field (though im no stellar runner)
I'm involved with Model United Nations (my school is recognized as one of the best for MUN and I travel with MUN)
I am a volunteer at the local hospital where I volunteer at the front desk or oncology unit 4 hours a week (and will hopefully be getting a leadership position)
I have a lot of other volunteer hours and have won awards for the amount of hours ive dedicated
I'm in 5 clubs
I'm a student ambassador for my school
I'm a member of California Scholarship Federation
(please give me any advice on how to build my application too please)

Okay so I am really unsure of what schools I can even think of applying to and im sure the following are a long shot, but if you could give me any range of how close you think I am to be admitted I would greatly appreciate that! (feel free to suggest some schools you think I am a good match for too)

Boston College

Boston University

Northwestern University (Grandpa went there)

University of Notre Dame (both my dad and his dad went there)

University of Virginia

University of Pennsylvania (okay I know this sounds silly, I know I have like a 0% shot of going Ivy but UPenn is my dream school so I thought I'd throw it out there)

ps if its any help I want to be a hematologist-oncologist or I want to major in Classics (latin and greek)

PLEASE HELP

what about Fordham too??? does anyone know anything about Fordham is it a good environment like Notre Dame?

BU looks to be a pretty good fit to your credentials

Besides, if you want to go into the medical field, you should most likely look at BU. Legacy at Notre Dame is pretty high for admissions so that might help.

Hey your app is looking good so far for everything the only thing is you need to take IBs or APs not honors classes and the reason is that many colleges to not give the extra point for honors even when they do the weighted GPA. So right now with no IBs or APs your highest weighted GPA would be 4.0. This is for at least many of the top colleges but of course it changes for each one but I’m talking ivy level. Secondly even though you diversify your extracurriculars you need to pick a few and be awesome at them. So continue running but maybe put in less time. Just being part of mun or 5 clubs is ok but many people are part of many clubs you need to become an officer in them. For example vice captain of the mun team. This will make your ec’s a lot stronger. Pick a few and be very good. Also a couple hundred service hours is not too impressive what is impressive is if they are consistently doing something that makes a big change for example I work with a non profit group I have hundreds of hours because for a year I have gone down to Mexico one day every three weeks and spend 10 hours in that day with10-20 other people and make a house out in the rural poor areas where there are homeless squatter families. I don’t just make 1 trip I have built tens of houses this year so that makes it a little stronger. But obviously this isn’t enough to get you into college on it’s own it’s only a bit of a plus though. I have criticized you a lot but overall I think you should be confident you have a strong app and I bet you will get into 1-2 of the schools you listed if I were to guess you get into notre dame, u of virginia, and boston u

Thank you @stanford99, I am planning on taking more AP’s and IB"s next year. And at my school MUN is not a club its part of my history class so we don’t have such thing as captain (but I was the head delegate of my schools conference and I am traveling to London next year and Berkeley this year). I appreciate your advice. I do need to get more involved with clubs and I was thinking of starting a club to supplement my volunteer work at the hospital like maybe a club making blankets for patients. My friend wanted me to help her start a ALS club too (her dad was recently diagnosed) so I’ll make sure to pursue one of those options. And yes I understand the volunteer thing. Most of my hours are from the hospital. My school also makes all students choose a charity to work with during high school as a service project, so with the combination of the two I’ll have two service projects Im rather involved with. (I mentioned the other volunteer hours because I am president of my National Charity League group but I know that is still probably to versatile that’s why I am trying to focus on just the hospital and my school service project). Thank you very much I appreciate it a lot and yay I hope you are right about ND, UVa, and BU!
