Thanks alot, input would be appreciated.

Someone please be nice!

Anyone?..

SFSU - reach

Thanks for the post and all of its seriousness.

/sarcasm

You live in Hawaii? that cool stuff sir, but on a serious note I suggest you take your SAT’s again and try to hit 1800 or up. I believe you have till December to have those done for the UCs and I have seen seniors make huge leaps in their score.

For your schooling I recommend writing about your educational experience and the educational background your coming from it will help explain the lack of AP classes.

Your EC’s look fine, simply play up something you had a special talent or passion for

Thank you very much for your response.

For the SAT thing, if I can get a 570+ on my SAT II’s in October, I will be taking the SAT again in November.

UCLA/USC would be pretty high reaches, they are extremely competitive schools and you should probably get an 1800+ before considering them realistic. All of the others you could have a chance at though, to my knowledge. Good luck

Yep, they are both reaches.

Gotta have reaches just in case I get lucky.

Anybody have anything else?

Would greatly appreciate it.

okay first off the bad news… You have zero chance at ucla. Thousands of kids much more qualified than you get rejected from there every year. I also think you have no chance at USC or pepperdine. Davis and irvine are reaches as well. You are out of state for these so you need to be over qualified and you are underqualified. I think you are in at sfsu. You could be in at San diego state if you get your sat up. Its a lot harder to get into nowadays than everyone thinks. If you can raise your sat score to 1900, you can significantly raise your chances at Davis and irvine. Sorry if i sound harsh… Just trying to be honest. Best of luck.

I think you should be working from this list.

San Diego State University
University of San Francisco
University of San Diego
San Francisco State University

Try to find other schools of the same level that you can work with. All things considered, I don’t think you have much of a chance at the rest of those schools to be honest.
UCLA, USC and Pepperdine= Virtually no chance.

So wheres the good news? LOL

I dont think Pepperdine is that hard to get into especially since their average stats are pretty much the same as mine. 1700 SAT, 3.7 GPA. And I am a URM from Hawaii, so I think in no way I have no chance at getting in.

But thanks for your reply, I greatly appreciate it.

The average admitted SAT at Pepperdine is 1920 and the average ACT is 30. They only accept around 30%. I know, I go there :]

Thanks for the response.

I guess raising my SAT is a very big priority. I’ll start working on it again.

Late night bump.

the good news was where I said you had a chance at other schools on your list. Apply wherever you want, just don’t be surprised if you get rejected from schools like pepperdine.

I agree. You imply your URM status might help you overcome your high school preparation at the UCs, but there are so many URMs applying from CA that your URM status doesn’t help the UCs with diversity.
