Hello fellow CCers,

So I am waiting till today for this chance because I wanted to wait for my SAT scores to come in. The problem is that I can't decide whether or not I should do ED or wait and try to increase my scores in Dec. and do RD. Please give me your advice.

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

SAT (superscored) = 2090

It went up by 150 points but I was expecting more...

I hope you can give me some feedback on my chances and also advise me on whether or not i should continue with early decision or hold back, try to improve scores in december and do rd.

THANKS =)

oh ps. im male :)

For ED you have a very good chance, for RD, I also think you have a pretty good chance.

thanks!

bumppp...anyone else?

anybody?????

bump 10char

bump de bump bump

Are you applying for FA?

yess..how much of am impact will this have?

It shouldn't have any impact, because Cornell looks at applications on a need-blind basis. Anyway, you should probably apply early (then again, you probably shouldn't because I am applying early to Cornell too!) because they will not deny you with those stats, so you would be deferred to RD anyway.

ok thanks a lot. are you applying for aem?

and also, if i take the dec sats will they update my score and use that for RD (if i get deferred) or will they only look at these scores?

bump 10char

bumpppppppp

go to businessweek.com, and search cornell. you'll find an article that talks about admission into CALS. and in it, the admission director said that "fit" is extremely important. U can also click on businessweek ranking's cornell profile. u'll see that AEM students don't have that high of SATs and many of them are not in top 10%. That should tell u business-related extracurriculars is extremely important. so u have great chance. i would do regular

I know for my school Cornell took lik 5 kids last year and their rank was lik 30s. Which is why i am also applying.

You got solid courses and ec's the sats are maybe a bit shy of their median 50%

otherwise you have a good shot.

But my teacher tells me that ED can hurt sometimes cause they look for stellar kids with legacy and etc. If you get deferred it looks bad during regular decision.

nuwandastormlok: ED applicant pool are usually weaker than the regular applicant pool because many students who are not IVY level try to boost their chances. So if u do ED, u r competing with weaker applicants than regular applicants. yes, u do have to compete with legacies, but ur chances are still higher. therefore, i would take ur teacher's words with a grain of salt
