Chance me please :D

Hi! I'm currently a junior in my school and i really really really really wanna attend NYU. in fact it is my dream school.
I live all the way in georgia in a small town, but i am originally from new york.
I have an average SAT score, but my gpa is high, and i'm involved in alot of things..and i'm asian whos parents only finished high school...one in america, and one in asia. first generation college student, and my parents path to america was interesting? <- if that'll increase my chances :P

SAT: 1640
GPA: 4.0
taking 2 ap classes right now and plan to take AP gov. and AP Stat and dual enrollment my senior year. i'm a math ahead of everyone in my graduating class because i took a high school math my 8th grade year.

counting my senior year!
4 years JROTC (cadet captain)
3 years on JROTC staff
4 years drill team
4 years yearbook staff
3 years Interact club
3 years national honor society-secretary for 2
2 years delta beta
2 years alpha beta
1 year student council class president
and i also have over 100 hours of community service...and work with special needs students at the school, and i have recieved awards in the school throughout the years including JROTC

i'm in the top ten students in my grade...ranking 5th...but that's because i've never retaken a test EVER in high school while everyone else has.

i plan on taking the SAT as many times possible.....and the ACT in the spring.....but would i stand a chance against other applicants? will nyu consider me?

please and thank you :D

As you stand now, your test scores are going to kill you…unless that’s a 1640/1800 in which case you should be fine. If you’re like me, you’ll do better on the ACT. Otherwise, ensure that your essays are very well written and interesting, since NYU really values that. If you can collect any academic/competition based awards this year, even minor ones, I’d shoot for em’.

I think your chances of admission are decent, or above decent, personally, but who knows? NYU’s one of those schools where admission’s a crapshoot. Try not to stress out too much.

Best of luck :)

@hopefulhippie: You didn’t describe NYU but U Chicago; NYU admissions aren’t a crapshoot for everyone. Plus any SAT score above 1600 clearly isn’t on the 1600 scale.

NYU: Reach

Try a test-optional school also…
