Chance me please (decent academics, awful EC's)

GPA-
UW: 3.73
W: 4.33
UF GPA: 4.15

SAT: 2090
Math: 700
Reading: 680
Writing: 710

Extra Info:
-Top 10% of class
-3 years varsity wrestling team
-200 community service hours (100 at the local hospital)
-Huge upward trend
-Taking 5 AP this year, 9 total.
-AP Scholar Award (probably holds no weight at all)
-Essay should be decent
-Taken the hardest classes possible all 4 years
-No leadership whatsoever, lol

Worth a try.

UF is a match.

UF uses holistic admissions; 50% is GPA(the most important)/Test/Class Rigor, the other 50% is EC’s/Leadership/Essay.

Your GPA, test and Rigor are all good.

Lacking leadership hurts a bit, but plenty of folks get accepted without being the class president. Try to find some example of leadership, perhaps something you can bring up in your essay or in the “additional info” section of your application (if you haven’t completed it yet).

Your 3 years of wrestling is pretty good, UF likes to see a commitment (of time and effort). That EC is far better than joining 5 clubs your junior year. If you can do a solid Essay, you should be fine.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the response

I agree with Gator88NE. I started at UF last fall, and I got in without any leadership positions or work experience. My SAT was about the same as yours (actually slightly worse - 740 Math, 620 reading, 700 writing). I was an IB Diploma student, had a similar GPA, had HUGE drop in grades at the end of junior year (brought it back up next year), was in 3 honor societies, and was in the top 25% of my class (8th of 65, I think). If I can get in with all so much dragging my credentials down, I’d say your in good shape. :)

Thank you rs0525, that makes me feel a bit less worried. I appreciate the response.

I’m in the exact same boat Sneaky, I have 3 years of tennis and orchestra, and similar stats, but no clubs or leadership. I really hope UF values sports and major time consuming ECs over once a month clubs…
Good luck
