<a href=“Freshman - How To Apply - University of Florida”>http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/ugrad/frprofile.html</a></p>

Your GPA is great, but your ACT is a bit low. However, with UF’s Holistic admissions, being a first generation URM, with good EC’s, should make up for it (even being out of state). So, UF is a Match.

Good Luck!

Really I didn’t see it ignore my post on the other chance me thread. Thank you so much for doing this. It means a lot thank you.

@Gator88NE , Are you saying it’s easier for a student to get accepted in-state? I always get different answers to that question.

@FerrisBueller2

Yes, based on the common data set ( http://www.ir.ufl.edu/data_OLD_CDS/cds2013-2014.pdf</a> ) UF does take into account Geographical residency (“Important”) and State residency (“considered”). UF admissions will down play state residency (as well as legacy status), but it does plays a minor role.

Basically, don’t worry about it, if your stats/EC’s can get you in, state residency is not likely to stop you and it may even help if UF isn’t reaching whatever target they have set, that year, for OOS students. The real challenge for OOS students is competing against the best students in Florida for spots. UF is fairly popular with in-state students, due to it’s ranking, large number of majors and very low tuition.

Note that Geographical residency likely has to do with giving special consideration to students from a particular part of the state and doesn’t impact OOS students.

Good Luck!

@Gator88NE , Okay, thank you for the detailed information. I am actually an in-state student, South Florida born and raised.
