Chance me please! ED CAS

Penn CAS
early decision
intended major on commonapp: Architecture

NJ, Asian Female
Large Public High School, i would say competitive but not cutthroat
GPA: school does gpa on weird scale... but rank is 37/485 (top 7%)
SAT: M: 790, CR: 680, W: 730 (total 2200) (2nd sitting, no superscore because everything went up)
SAT 2: Math2: 740, USH: 730, Lit: 600 (...i know...)
AP and Honors Courses: all honors freshman and soph year, 4 APs junior year: AP Macro(5), Micro(4), APUSH (4), Eng Lang(4)
also in a specialized business program that my high school hosts, it's a selective business program that selects ~25 kids for each class, and it's a comprehensive 4 year program with required business courses(accounting, econ, business law, business principles) don't know if this will help since i don't intend to do business, nor did i write about this in essays

4 APs senior year: Psych, Physics, Eng Lit, Calc BC

EC's: (most significant): writing of a 85,000 word novel, lots of creative writing, art/illustration, literary magazine, 3 year annual open mic night participator, art club that paints murals in school, jv basketball, recreational trail/road cycling

Hooks:
not sure if this counts for penn legacy but brother is currently in GRAD school Wharton for mba - penn supp didn't ask for siblings but i did fill him in on commonapp sibling section, and my interviewer seemed interested in the fact

Recs: know all my teachers on a very personal level - so i hope all excellent

Essays: imo excellent, i wrote about my passions, my novel, creative writing, art. why penn essay was very penn specific and highlighted again my love for writing and art. one of the penn essays i took a creative risk - it was more inspirational prose/poetry than a 'formal' essay, but i think all were very good

Interview: Yes, i wouldn't say spectacular but i would say it went pretty well, above avg.

chance me please, and thank you! good luck to all you ed applicants!! friday can't come any slower... or closer.

bump
<48 hours now :o…

I think you have a fair chance. I don’t want to say you’re a lock because by all means you are not. Then again I don’t want to say you have slim chances as what does that accomplish 2 days out other than rattle you up. In my honest opinion, I wouldn’t be surprised if you were accepted, deferred, or rejected. I know it’s not the definitive answer you were looking for, but nevertheless it is my opinion.

i very much appreciate the reply, mjx891  it’s true there really is no ‘definite’ answer because admissions can be quite unpredictable. i just don’t know what they’re looking for anymore nowadays, grades or essays or ecs or what. i guess all i can do now is just hope my passions came through.

other opinions are welcome, please and ty!

@spicymango did you end up getting accepted?

yea, did you get in?
