Hi everyone
I am a rising senior (class of 2012), asian male at a competitive private high school.
My GPA is a 96, top 10% of my class, and I have been taking all honors and APs. I have all A s except one B.
My Extracurricular activities are good enough and I have like 300+ service hours.

My question is:
If My SAT is a 2070 (M:720, CR:630, W: 720) [Math + Reading=1350] and I am agreeing to pay full tuition and apply for Early Decision, at either Cornell or Northwestern?
And Brown and Notre Dame also?

What are my chances?

PLEASE help me and be brutally honest!!! I really wanted to get a good idea of where I am and start planning early for college. Thank you all very much!!!! :)

I’d like to see the EC’s, as it’d give us all a better picture of the student behind the statistics.

The GPA is great. However, the SAT is definitely low for these schools. Don’t let that stop your from applying though. The ability to pay full tuition will definitely be a factor if the schools are NOT need-blind (I’m not sure which ones are/are not, so you should check on this). I’d really be able to make a better judgement call if I had the EC’s.

One side note; the fact that you are asking your chances for ED at FOUR different schools worries me. ED should not be a tool used to get into college easier, but should be an option for students who are absolutely, without a doubt committed to the school to which they apply. Visit the schools, do your research, and think about the situation; if accepted, you WILL have to attend. Do you really want to commit someplace for the next four years of your life this early in the game? Some people do, and that’s great. Others don’t. Ultimately, the choice is yours; just don’t take it lightly.

If I’d have to give percentages based on just the above data, I’d say: Cornell: 65-70% Northwestern:: 70-75% Brown: 65-75% Notre Dame: 70-75%

Again, this is mere speculation due to the lack of EC’s. Don’t be afraid to throw yourself out there for judgement; it usually pays off in the long run.

Thanks a LOT for everyone’s input that helped me alot! I’ve actually been to all these four schools already and did all my research. I am NOT going to do ED at all these schools of course, and besides Notre Dame only has Early Action. I am basically down to decide between Northwestern or Cornell.

As far as the ECs are concerned, I think they are definitely good enough. Have my own community service set up, over 300 hours of community service, leadership position in various activities like Diversity&Outreach, Medical Society, Mentoring programs… etc. I have a lot of ECs.

The only thing that I wanted to check was my standardized test grade (The SAT), is that good enough for those 4 schools.

so yeah, well thanks again everyone for helping me get an idea! Anyone here need me to chance back? :)
