Currently head mechanical engineer for a fuel cell prototype car at my school. I will be the Head Engineer overseeing all aspects of the project next year. We are the only educational institute in CT that is building anything like this. (this includes UCONN).

I'm also doing a solo project where I plan on installing GE Watt Stations which are electric car charging stations. We will be the first high school to do this if this project proceeds as planned.

Mechanical Engineer

please go easy on me, I know that my GPA isn't exactly good.

You are in.

Which engineering school is more selective TCNJ or Rutgers? Does either one have a clear edge in reputation?

stevens institute of technology beats them both

If I would have asked about Stevens that would have been very helpful.

I would say that TCNJ is more selective, but Rutgers has a better reputation. That’s because TCNJ is a smaller liberal arts school while Rutgers is a large state university. I guess it would depend on what you were looking for a school, but for engineering I would definitely go for Rutgers. It sounds like you have a strong engineering background and I would think Rutgers has so many more opportunities and projects to work on as it’s so much bigger.

My son is a senior mechanical/aerospace major at Rutgers. He is currently doing some research partially funded by NASA. If you go to Rutgers, I would encourage you to look into the Slade Scholar Program, which allows you to partner with a professor to conduct research. He also received a great job offer back in September, so it’s been nice not to have to worry about that for his senior year. Overall, Rutgers was an excellent choice for him.
