General Comments: Duke is one of my top choices. Could you chance my for RD, and tell me where I can impove? I appreciate everything you’re able to offer! I have looked through the RD/ED forums already!
I am applying RD to Duke as well so this may not be as helpful. I would definitely recommend that you try to improve your math subscore because you are applying to Pratt. Your course load is great and is competitive. Maybe try to get your ACT up to a 33 and focus on the math section this time, if possible. On Duke’s website it says they will accept scores from the February administration at the latest. Perhaps try that one more time. Your math & science subscore should be equal or higher than the others if possible! Good luck! You seem relatively competitive for admission but there are some factors that would make you very competitive.
another thread in the duke section had a 32 ACT ED applicant say that duke admissions say their score was too weak. I don’t know the validity but it’s good to keep in mind and aim to improve your ACT and send it (I would take the January test)
@BB1313@lovecollege101 A 32 ACT is weak for unhooked applicants, especially if they are ORMs. There is no doubt in that. The only kid that gets into Duke from my school consistently has 35s, so I have no trouble believing that Duke did say that a 32 was too weak. HOWEVER, since you are first generation Belarusian immigrant, you don’t need to worry that much about your score. It’s fine. There’s no point in worrying anyway since the December ACT was the last one that Duke accepts anyway. I think you have a great chance.
I was admitted with a 32 ACT (33 superscore) ED. Test scores are very important but not everything! If you have the chance of taking it again you may want to, it might boost your confidence a little! But at this point, I’d focus on pouring your heart into your essays to really dazzle the admissions officers and play up your EC’s. Best of luck!
