Thank you!

WOW!!! You’re SATs, SAT2s are absolutely spectacular, and your gpa is off the charts. You have some really prestigious achievements. You are clearly very dedicated to some great extracurriculars, and you have so many outstanding leadership roles. At this point, I would have to say that Columbia is not even a slightest bit of reach for you. You can get into CC regular decision guaranteed. My advice is you apply to one of the REALLY elite colleges. Try for Yale or MIT early action or Upenn early decision. You have an amazing chance for those schools, don’t limit yourself to Columbia ED. You’ll regret it.

Hagger is applying ED to Columbia and doesn’t want competition; especially from students with good chances, like you. Of course, he doesn’t even know the difference between “your and you’re”…

Realistically, your test scores and GPA are solid, but compared to many of the elite students applying, unspectacular. That being said, with your very good ECs in math and science, I think you should definitely be in the ballpark. But keep in mind that last year, the chance of making Columbia increased almost three times for ED, and about half of the incoming class was filled with ED students. I think if that’s your top choice for school, you ought to apply early. Good luck!

the fact that english is your second language, yet you scored quite high on the verbal/writing sections of the SAT, will really really help your case. i would suggest one of your recs be from an english/history teacher tho (just for balance, especially since ur applying to cc not seas).
you can do it! good luck!!! :)

Thank you all for your encouragements! I’m having trouble because my brother had 2380 SAT and 4.3 GPA unweighted, and he was denied from Columbia Regular decision. I was pretty much expecting a deferral because of this. I didn’t think my numbers were “spectacular” either, which is why I am taking the SAT once again this fall. I really wanted to balance my recommendations too, but the teachers just didn’t work for me. I had a lot of great time at Columbia over the summer, which is why I want to apply early. I don’t love the Core Curriculum, but it IS my top choice. Thank you everyone once again! Any other opinions are still welcomed!
