Thank you for your time. All accolades and criticisms appreciated! :) And like I said, I'll gladly comment/chance for you if you want!

And my application essay/recommendations are good, too - so I’m told. My Columbia supplement essays are excellent and really show my personality/my wanting to go there to continue my research at Columbia (I currently have a Columbia ID and everything haha).

I don’t have experience “chancing” people, but strictly by the looks of your profile you’re about as shoe-in an applicant as I’ve read on these things. You should apply to Yale and Harvard as well just joking.

Going with the stats I think you have an excellent chance But then college admission, especially that of Ivy League schools, is known to be quite tricky so no-one can be absolutely confident. Yet you appear to be reasonably prepared and passionate about the school so I feel very strongly about your chance.

I think you have a good chance, but not a great chance. Columbia is so competitive, even ED, that it’s impossible to say whether you are “in” or not. Definitely, don’t grow complacent, as amazexxx said. you can just as easily be rejected.

good luck fellow ed’er! (i applied ed to cornell CoE)

I applied to CC because they have the research/science programs I wanted (I’ve already worked at one of the labs involved in their undergrad programs for two years, and I’ve loved it!), and my interest is in biochemistry, which is at CC not SEAS. And yeah, I definitely agree about the chances being hazy part. You really never know with these things, and a lot of it is luck and whether the school feels that you’re a good match for them or not. Hopefully, my interest will shine through with my essays, work experience, contact with some scientists there, and the fact that I’ve had a couple of family members go there, but you honestly never know! Of course I’m dying to get again, but if I don’t, there are schools out there I’d be proud to attend, as well. Thanks for the honest opinions :).

Thank you; let’s hope luck is in all of our favor, as well. It’s definitely a crapshoot. Like @cortana said above, I could easily be rejected. If so, I know I’ll be happy wherever I go (even if I’m dying to go to Columbia haha).

Sooo we’re basically the same candidate, but I’m white and male, and you’re female and Asian (both statuses are not advantageous haha). Idk hopefully we’ll BOTH get in, which would be amazing, but I have a good feeling about you! You’re a legacy, too, right? My sister went to Barnard and graduated this year, but none of my parents went to Columbia. And you prolly applied to CC, too lol. Did you work at the Medical Center for one summer or two, and have you competed in competition with your research? I worked in the department of pathology and cell bio. Sorry for all the questions haha; I’m just curious. Again good luck this Thursday :).

My sister went to CC. And yeah, I completed my thesis and presented my research in front of a board of chemists. I didn’t publish it. I was going to compete in ISEF, but I was a little bit overwhelmed. My project supervisor wrote my rec. The odds are indeed against us, haha, but I have a good feeling about you too!. You seem like a strong applicant. I only worked at the Med Center for one year, but I might be going back; my ID might get a little use, considering it took 3 months for them to actually get me through the system haha.

Your ECs and awards are both very impressive and focused on what you want to major in. Assuming your essays were equally impressive and you were able to portray your love for Columbia, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be accepted. I wish you the best of luck :)
