30 on the ACT is low for NU (it tracks to about a 1350 on SAT (CR+M), which is about the 25th percentile for admitted students).

However, everything else looks good – so I’d say it’s certainly worth an application.

Zephyr15,

Do you have a link that says 1350 is about 25th percentile for NU. I am not trying to be a jerk. I am just curious where you got that since I have never seen the percentile rankings for SAT Math+CR of admitted students.

@NovaNation – any reason not to re-take the ACT? With your other stats, I’d think you stand a good chance of improving your scores and hence your odds of admission to NU, no?

i feel that three times for the ACT may look like to much, on top of the SAT twice. also I have the October SAT IIs

Charger

2011 USNWR Best Colleges gives NU’s 25th/75th percentile numbers as 1360-1530.

That’s the best I have.

CollegeBoard puts the 50% ACT scores at 31-34, which I think means that 75% of admitted NU students in 2010 had scores above 30.

It might be worth a third try to bring up your ACT scores if you have time.

If not, write some great essays and hope you’re among the 25% who are admitted with lower scores.

In any case, best of luck to you!!

You should definitely consider taking the ACTs again in October or November because you can easily improve. You seem to be pretty good in the English, so I think you can definitely score a 35 or 36 in that section. Just study and maximize your score. And I would say your extracurriculars are around average. I think if you can get your ACT score to a 32-33, you have a solid shot.
