Please Chance Me for Stanford, Cornell, Northwestern, MIT, Columbia.
Thanks alot for your help.

I’d retake the SATI.

same as above. pls get ur SAT I above 2300 and beef up the CR section

Thanks, I do plan on retaking the SAT in Oct. Will it look bad if i only concentrate on math and reading (since i got 800 on writing last time) to superscore?

Also what does CR stand for? class rank? my school does not rank, but i believe im in the top 10 of my class of 600.

Okay, personally, I don’t think retaking the SAT’s going to improve your chances by much. The most you can do at this point to maximize your chances, I think, is focusing on your ECs and your essay.

I disagree with the above post. If you want Stanford, retake your SATs and shoot into the 2300s. You’re an Asian male, too.

Here’s my feedback:

Stanford - raise your SAT scores, that’ll increase your chances greatly. You really have the passion for music and performance, which is great. But for a school like Stanford, (you’ve heard it before) I’m not sure if you’re WELL ROUNDED enough to get in, apart from model congress (which soooo many people do and excel in). Maybe you’ll get in…

Cornell - You should be able to get in right now
Northwestern - Yep, you’ll get in

MIT - I do not see a “MIT fit” from the information you indicated. True, MIT takes in students of many many different backgrounds. But it’s essentially a tech school and I just don’t see a fit

Columbia - No.
You are definitely competent for that school. But I don’t see a fit. Read a little bit on Columbia’s “character” and what I’m saying should be clearer…

Dude, are you sure that’s your official, LEGIT GPA? On blackboard, your GPA should be really high because of retroactively weighed honors, but if you ask your GC to print out a copy of your transcript, your transcript GPA is a lot lower…

Um, are theatre production assistances the only EC you have that isn’t “asian”? It’s nice that you have very Asian-ish interests, but it seems kinda sterotypical.
Oh yeah and improve the SAT score. Even though it’s slightly sufficient.

Are you sure you’re going to be putting ALL THAT onto your applications? Some of your accomplishments (like being published in litmag) really isn’t that impressive…

Oh for goodness sakes, I think you have a VERY, VERY good chance in general. I’m applying to those same schools (well, at least MIT, Stanford, and Northwestern) and I don’t think I did half of what you did. Good luck! :D

Oh, and also, this is a sort of random question, but…
On the common app, what do you generally put for academic awards? I’ve won some journalism and writing awards, but I don’t know if they’re really “academic”; I dunno if it has to be math or science or something.

Yet another typical asian. You have a medium to slim chance at those schools.

Thanks for all the feedback. I really appreciate it.
Yes im afraid im a bit of the typical chinese male student.

Currently I am a Canadian citizen on a H4 Visa, and am in the process of applying for a greencard. Im not sure if the green card will be approved before i apply to college. How will that affect my chances? Would i need to apply as international, and would i be able to recieve aid?
would it help if i apply early decision to stanford?

You will probably get deferred if apply ED at stanford. Green card helps because you won’t apply as international student anymore

Dragon Dance seems pretty unique; the only downside would be that it’s a little to “asian” perhaps?

Stanford - medium reach.
Cornell - high match to low reach
Northwestern - high match low reach
MIT, I don’t really see you as a candidate, since from what I read you don’t have too many really competitive math or science awards AND your SATI Math score is a little low.
Columbia- Low reach

…are my guesses.

Thanks for chancing me.
