Hello, I am an upcoming senior in high school and soon to be nervous applicant to many schools in which i would love to attend. I am a very passionate person and I have a lot of goals, hobbies, and things that interest me. I am at the top of my class (at least top 5%) and I have a high GPA, great E.C.'s that I believe are unique and display my passions and goals well, and good course rigor (took all of the hardest classes I could at my school including multiple AP’s and Dual Enrollment and Honors classes. The schools I will be applying to this fall are the following; If you could chance me for all of them that would be amazing. Before all of you think i’m crazy applying to such great schools with a considerably “low” ACT score, I believe I can really bring something to the table and will achieve a lot in my life despite my score ( I am a really motivated and driven person and succeed in what I’m passionate about). Especially for Stanford, I really believe I am a good fit for the school as I am interested in a lot around me, I am an entrepreneur, I love media and new technology, and I am overall curious about things and love learning new things. Here are the schools: Stanford, Boston College, UF, USC, UMN-TC, NYU, Brandeis, Bentley, Trinity, WFU, Cornell, Barnard, and BU.
GPA: 3.85 UW and 4.5 W
ACT: 24 C (read explanation above, please- I know it is a poor score but i have taken the most rigorous course load at my school and have obtained the GPA above.)
School Type: Small Private HS
E.C’s:
-Starting in sophomore year of high school I started my own website in which I write on fashion, travel, politics, and life in general. My website has grown the past years and I now have over 20,000 readers a month and a good following on my Instagram. I have had the opportunity to work with multiple companies including Coca Cola, HerCampus, Pura Vida, MTV,Travel Channel, KJP, and more. I also make a commission from my website and I’ve gotten awards and recognized. Also through this I share ideas with other influencers and bloggers and we collaborate on things via Instagram and our websites. Through my personal brand and website I have got to connect with and “meet” a lot of people i wouldn’t get to meet otherwise. Through my website I also display my photography from my travels and offer travel tips. So really, I have built a website, personal brand, and a good following on the internet through all of this enabling me to have so many new opportunities and learn from so many different people. It has also helped me with my marketing skills, business skills, communication skills, coding skills, and others.
-This year I went to state competition for my presentation on “How to Start a Website” and won 3rd in the state for that
-I am an intern for a start-up magazine in which I write articles for the publication and get to work with other contributors and the editor as well. The magazine is published bi-monthly and I have gotten articles published before.
-I am in 4-H and am secretary of my club
-in FBLA and am reporter for that group
-I won MVP for varsity soccer team one year and scored most goals on my team sophomore year of hs
-Im a certified soccer referee and sometimes referee little kids soccer games on the weekends
-I am a HerCampus High School Ambassador
-I obtained the national presidents service award, gold, this year
-in Student Leadership Academy
-on student government for 2 years and national honors society
Courses Taken (this is the hardest course schedule I could’ve possibly had a.k.a. all that my school offered):
-Fresh&Soph year: all honors courses freshman and sophomore year
-Junior year: 1 AP class (macroeconomics) and 3 DE classes taken junior year; the rest of my classes were honors including my spanish 3 class
-Senior Year: 2 DE classes (english and gov. and politics) and 5 AP classes.
Thank You, and again I know that my ACT score is low but I feel that I have good E.C.;s that I am really passionate about; I plan on starting my own business after college as well incorporating my website and personal brand.
