<p>Race: Asian ( I'm Japanese - American if that makes any difference)
Gender: Male
Expected Major: Music Performance ( I'll have to audition, but you don't have to factor that in If you don't want to)
Schools Applying to: University of North Texas, University of Miami, Stanford, Columbia, Yale, Princeton, UCLA and USC. USC and UCLA are my top choices.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.61 (UW) 4.71(W)
Academic GPA: 3.53 (UW) and 4.74(W).
The thing is I got a C in AP US History both semesters Sophomore year, a C in Japanese, and D in Chemistry 2nd semester. I They were all borderline grades, but I messed up on finals cause my grandmother passed away right before finals, and her funeral was the day before finals. I managed to get all A's junior year though, so there is a dip in my grades. My school only offers Honors and AP classes except PE, but it is Top 40 in the Nation, and Top in my state. </p>

<p>Test Scores: 35 ACT, 2300 SAT.<br>
4 on AP US Exam, 5 on AP Music Theory, 5 on AP Human Geo, 5 on AP Lang</p>

<p>despite low gpa, your high sats and should help you alot. The only schools that are reaches are Columbia, Stanford, Yale and Princeton</p>

<p>I agree with mellon123. GPA is going to hold you back in some way or another, but your test scores and extracurriculars should help you out. Stanford, Columbia, Yale, and Princeton will be reaches, but your major may help you out as that doesn’t seem like a typical major to me. Your work with the Japanese community will show dedication in preserving tradition in American society. I see a possible essay topic there. I like your chances at most schools, but try really hard in your senior year to boost that GPA up.</p>

<p>You should be in at UNT and UM. USC and UCLA seem like pretty good matches and Stanford/Columbia/Yale/Princeton seem to be pretty high reaches due to your GPA.
