I have a 3.81 GPA, and work full-time as a server at the Cheesecake Factory to support myself.

I am debating whether to go apply to UC Berkeley for Rhetoric or Sociology. Both majors fascinate me so I would not be oppoed to either one. My future plans are to go to Law School.

Summer 07: 6 Units 4.0
Fall 07: 16 Units 4.0
Spring 08: 6 Units 3.0
Summer 08: 3 Units 4.0
Fall 08: 9 Units (Current)

I will have 40 Units done by the end of this Fall. I will take 20 Units durring the spring. I will have my IGECT complete by the end of the spring semester prior to enrollment at Berkeley (just need science and lab), and Pre-requisites for my majore (rhetoric or sociology) are already complete.

What are my chances in the majors I specified?

So are you gonna quit the Cheesecake job once the spring starts? The last thing you'd want is to overwhelm yourself the last semester and get a few poor grades that can get you rescinded.

I'd say its relatively fair. You and I, ironically, are both applying for Berkeley this fall for the same major in the event you apply for Rhetoric. And, also, I would advise you to take at least one class during the winter session if your CC offers them (My CC, Irvine Valley College, doesn't). It'll make the whole spring semester easier. Still, doing 20 isn't THAT bad- its manageable.

20 units is manageable but not with a full time job.

I'm also applying for Rhetoric -- anyone care to share what classes they've used to prepare for the major? I'm still kind of in the dark about that...

Yes. I will be quiting my job and moving in with a family member for the final semester. My ccc is on the semester system so there I will not be able to take classes in the Winter.

I wanted to make sure that UCB wouldn't negatively judge me on having my IGECT not 100% complete... or having 20 units left.

I did 16 units my first year at CCC and got a 4.0 I'm sure I can manage 20 if I really work hard.
